Congratulations to our amazing Development Director, Peggy Helsel!
Celebrate with us as we recognize Peggy Helsel,?one of this year's 16 Over 60 honorees! ? ? Peggy is a mentor, role model, and advocate who brings her positivity, kindness, and experience as a leader to all that she does. After witnessing her mother struggle to navigate public spaces in her wheelchair, Peggy joined Disability Advocates of Kent County, where she now serves as Development Director and works tirelessly to promote inclusivity and accessibility across the Grand Rapids area. Peggy also played a pivotal role in bringing the first Race for the Cure to Grand Rapids, channeling her sorrow into action after the tragic loss of a dear friend to breast cancer. She went on to chair the race for years, and later led the incorporation of the Grand Rapids Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen foundation, where she served as the first President of the Board. Peggy is also active in the The Economic Club of Grand Rapids and the Grand Rapids, South Kent, and Byron Center Chambers of Commerce, donating her time and knowledge to strengthen the economic health of many local communities. ??
