Happy Friday! Continuing my journey of learning, growth and networking, I attended a dbt Labs Community Meetup last night—a fantastic initiative hosted by the Astrafy Madrid Team, Shay Begun, Alex and Partners, showing live demos and treating us to some delicious beers! I’ll admit, I walked in alone and not knowing much about what dbt Labs was, but I was eager to learn how it fits into a company's broader data architecture and just meet some smarter people who could explain it to me. Walked out with more questions than answers, but that's part of learning until one day it just clicks. For those like me who are curious, I’ve now learned that DBT serves as the foundation for building, with everything on top seamlessly integrating into Directus. Maybe one of these days I will learn to code... let's see!... A big thank you to the hosts for creating such an engaging and insightful event! ??

An interesting discussion happened after my MACH Alliance post last week. Some folks suggested we have "too many breaking changes to be true enterprise software." Let's talk about that. At Directus, we document every breaking change, no matter how small. Even if it affects less than 1% of users. Even if it's just a heads-up for extension builders using undocumented features. Could we handle these lesser updates quietly? Sure. Would that make us look more "enterprise-ready" on paper? Probably. But here's the thing: we operate with *radical* transparency. When we spot a security vulnerability, we could patch it silently. When we make subjective breaking changes, we could sweep them under the rug. Many companies do. We don't. Major version bumps typically happen every 18-24 months... and they are the outcome of us innovating based on the feedback of our hundreds of enterprise customers. No one's forced to upgrade — if you're happy with your current version, you can stay there. Unlike some providers who force updates, we let you move at your own pace. True enterprise readiness isn't about maintaining a pristine changelog. It's about a customer-centric approach, software agility, and trust in the documentation. It's about respecting your users enough to tell them everything, even when it might not paint the perfect picture. We'd rather be known for doing the right thing than looking perfect on paper. Because at the end of the day, we're building something real here. Something that lasts. And that kind of foundation? It's built on trust, not marketing. So yeah, our breaking changes are documented. All of them... no matter how inconsequential. That's not a bug — it's a feature.
