As Western North Carolina continues to recover from the lasting effects of Hurricane Helene, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to Direct Relief for their unwavering support during this challenging time. Direct Relief mobilized quickly, providing $700,000 in financial assistance and delivering 175 shipments of essential medicines and supplies valued at over $74 million to healthcare providers in Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee—including Appalachian Mountain Health These shipments included emergency medical backpacks, respiratory relief, antibiotics, chronic disease medicines, vaccines, personal protective equipment, and water purification tablets, helping us meet the urgent needs of our community. Since the start of 2024, there have been over 112,000 cholera cases reported across Africa, including more than 22,000 cases and over 600 deaths in Sudan alone. As case numbers continue to rise in South Sudan—a concerning trend given the perennial flooding and the massive influx of refugees fleeing conflict in Sudan—Direct Relief is sending cholera kits to both Sudan and South Sudan to support multiple partners on the ground. This shipment of emergency medical supplies and cholera medications to IOM - UN Migration will support their critical humanitarian work with internally displaced persons, migrants, and refugees across South Sudan. #SouthSudan #Sudan #Cholera

Over the past 7 days, Direct Relief has delivered 530 shipments of requested medical aid to 44 U.S. states and territories and 13 countries worldwide. The shipments contained 7M defined daily doses of medication. Medications and supplies for the treatment of cholera recently arrived in Juba, South Sudan, where a cholera outbreak presents a threat, particularly for children. With cholera cases on the rise in South Sudan and regionally, Direct Relief’s shipment of a cholera treatment kit designed to treat up to 280 patients- as well as field medic packs for use by first responders working in IDP camps, arrives at a critical time for medical providers in South Sudan. https://lnkd.in/eECZjAxj

COVID-19 Vaccine Update for Community Health Centers: We are pleased to share that NACHC is collaborating with our longstanding partner, Direct Relief, to facilitate the availability of adult COVID-19 vaccines to health centers and health center look-alikes. ? ?? These vaccines are available at no cost from their manufacturers, so health centers can order them for free and all shipping expenses will be covered by FedEx. To order vaccines, health centers must work directly with Direct Relief by enrolling as a health care partner. This initiative aims to support those patients who are uninsured, ensuring that everyone has access to vital immunizations as we approach the colder months. ? Ensuring equitable access to vaccines is a priority since the Bridge Program ended last August. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also distributed $62 million in funding to public health jurisdictions to help purchase and distribute COVID-19 vaccines for uninsured and underinsured adults. ? ?? Direct Relief today announced a new partnership with the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, or NJ OEM, marking a key step in expanding Direct Relief’s efforts to support emergency response across the state of New Jersey. In response to the active wildfires impacting New Jersey, NJ OEM has already requested 100 field medic packs and 200 personal care kits stocked with hygiene items from Direct Relief. These essential supplies will be distributed by impacted county emergency management offices to support those directly affected by the fires. https://lnkd.in/ewpd4UFZ
