?? 567 shipments, 13.2M doses of meds reached 50 U.S. states/territories +11 countries this week. In response to the three wildfires in Southern California, Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties. The Bridge Fire, which is currently the largest of the trio, is 3% contained, the Line Fire is 21% contained, and the Airport Fire is 8% contained. On Friday, Direct Relief delivered 50,000 requested N-95 masks to San Bernardino’s Emergency Operations Center. https://lnkd.in/efHCT5Yq

The core pillars of clean water access and proper healthcare stand as non-negotiable priorities in these challenging times. It is by forging meaningful partnerships that we can deliver essential relief supplies to our communities in dire need. With immense gratitude, we extend our heartfelt appreciation for the generous donation of 18 pallets of Medicines and Hospital consumables graciously provided by Direct Relief ???? through the esteemed support of HOPE worldwide ???? to ESPHA to be distributed to its facilities to serve the Disaster affected communities in Wosera Gawi and Angoram Districts of ESP, who fell victims to the Earth Quake and flood early this year. This invaluable contribution will play a pivotal role in reinforcing our relief efforts. “We are fortunate to receive these supplies of medicines and hospital consumables that will be used at the health posts level. We thank the Governor Hon. Allan Bird for his continued support and Hope Worldwide Papua New Guinea for this invaluable support.” Said ESPHA CEO, Mr. Mathew Kaluvia during the donation presentation by Hope Worldwide team in Wewak. Complementing these donations were 6 pallets of water buckets and water filters which are part of the ESPG's ongoing support to the disaster-affected areas. Targeting every household to gain better access to clean drinking water, the water buckets are an assertive instrument for collecting and storing clean water while the water filters are essentially utilized in purifying water from the main Sepik River and dug-out wells for drinking and cooking. We are eagerly looking forward to the equitable distribution of these vital supplies to the facilities and communities that require them most urgently. More than 373,000 people across four states were without power Thursday as a result of Hurricane Francine, which swept through southern Louisiana and weakened as it traveled inland, sending rain and winds across Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. With widespread power outages continuing, Direct Relief is in contact with health facilities in the area and was fulfilling requests for medical aid from New Orleans area health centers on Thursday. Requests included N-95 masks, diabetes test strips, naloxone, respiratory medications, and over-the-counter products. As of the morning of September 12th, three significant fires are threatening the southern California region. ? Line Fire?(San Bernardino) = 37, 207 acres burned ? Bridge Fire?(Los Angeles, San Bernardino) = 51,167 acres burned ? Airport Fire?(Orange, Riverside) = 23,412 acres burned ???????? According to population dynamics data from Data for Good at Meta (measuring Facebook users relative to a pre-crisis 90-day baseline) movement away from the fire areas is occurring in a few different towns and cities. ? Line Fire:?Running Springs, which is adjacent to the northernmost fire perimeter has seen population decline consistently over 80%, indicating large scale evacuation.?Lake Arrowhead?is roughly 8-10% below baseline while the neighboring town of?Crestline?is roughly 15% above baseline. The town of?Big Bear Lake?is seeing significant declines over 50% while the adjacent town of?Big Bear City?is seeing declines of nearly 20%. Urban areas to the south of the fire perimeter, including Yucaipa and Redlands, are either at baseline or slightly above. ? Bridge Fire: The town of?Wrightwood?saw a sudden decline of 66% on Tuesday evening.?Lytle Creek?has seen a modest decline of 12%. The town of Pinon Hills, adjacent to Wrightwood has seen an overall increase of 16%, although the areas of Pinon Hills on the southern side of Route 138 near Wildhorse Canyon have seen decreases over 10%. ? Airport Fire: No towns have seen overall population declines.?Rancho Santa Margerita?contains some areas near the fire perimeter which have decline more than 10%. ? At the ACS Place administrative unit level, Facebook users are highly correlated throughout Southern California with the Census population, with an R2 value of .979. Staff members at Baptist Community Health Services, Inc., spent Tuesday filling prescriptions, restocking emergency supplies, and making plans for a swift return to patient care. Through the Abbott Disaster Resiliency Grant program, a multi-year initiative aimed at mitigating the impact of disasters and ensuring continuity of response, BCHS has received three grants totaling $190,000. These grants were used to purchase two generators that have helped sustain power and preserve cold-chain medicines, and, with the most recent round, to support the purchase and outfitting of a mobile medical unit that will be used for community outreach and deployed as part of disaster relief efforts. https://lnkd.in/ev7aUDMk
