The Directions Group has released a new report examining how a loss of access to crop protection tools would affect U.S. agriculture, the environment, and federal policy in the farm bill. ? Key finding: Without glyphosate, farm production costs and food prices could rise, forcing policymakers to either consider reducing benefits for nutrition programs and crop insurance or increase federal spending by billions to account for rising costs. ? Executive Vice President of Agri-Food, Mark Purdy, said about the new report: “The farm bill is at a turning point, and the choices policymakers make now will have long-lasting effects on both farmers and consumers.
