“Look at this bed… look at my ROOM!” After tragedy struck this single mom and her three daughters, Takiah spent years fighting to regain the stability and safety that she knew her family deserved. Last week, DIGS and Seedtag stopped by with furniture, toys, and everything else these ladies need to feel at home in their new space! The future is looking bright for Takiah and her girls. Glad to be part of their journey!

Welcome Home! Kamiya and Tyron faced homelessness after they both lost their jobs. Staying in shelters was tough for them and their two young sons, but they focused on creating stability for their family wherever they could. Tyron is back to work, and Kamiya had an interview while Lisa Chernikoff and her friends helped us furnish this space! The future is looking big and bright for this family?? Thanks to Lisa and her amazing crew of friends and neighbors who made this move happen!

November is National Homelessness Awareness Month. Our city faces rising rates of homelessness and housing instability, impacting our friends, family, and neighbors. At Digs with Dignity, we’ve spent the past 5 years working to break the cycle of homelessness in Chicago, and we’re just getting started. We were thrilled to have Sendy Soto - Chicago’s first ever Chief Homelessness Officer - speak at this year’s Welcome Home Gala about her experience creating change, the city’s plan to address the needs of our unsheltered neighbors, and the importance of community. Because everyone deserves a safe, comfortable, dignified place to call HOME.

Paige and her three kids have spent the last 5 years living doubled up with various relatives, but Chicago is their home with or without a place of their own. When DIGS volunteers first met her, she said no one had ever asked what she wanted before. On her wishlist? A big sofa for family movie nights, a dining table to gather at, and the space to find herself again after years of living in survival-mode. Thanks to the Sundheim family and our rockstar DIGS volunteers who turned this house into a home for Paige in just a few hours!

Thank you so much to everyone who attended last week's Welcome Home Gala. With your support, we raised an incredible $265,000 for future DIGS families! Your dedication and donations will support DIGS families and our team as we work to: - Expand our services from one family per week to TWO families in 2025 - Increase our capacity by owning our own 20,000 square foot warehouse space - Invest in our team by fine-tuning our skills, growing our leadership, and providing opportunities for internal growth Our goal is clear: to continue helping more families find the dignity and stability they deserve. Your support allows us to meet the increasing needs of the families we work with each week. So on behalf of our team and the families that we serve each week, thank you! Photos by Andrew Weeks
