Yesterday, our team and incredible volunteers came together at 33 Gough Street to celebrate Thanksgiving in the most heartwarming way. We shared delicious food, laughter, and gratitude with our residents. This Thanksgiving, we are reminded of the power of community and the importance of a safe, supportive place to call home—even if temporary. A huge thank you to everyone who made this event and our community possible. ?? From all of us at DignityMoves, we wish you a #HappyThanksgiving! ??

Reimagining scalable solutions to end unsheltered homelessness
关于我们
DignityMoves is an innovative nonprofit organization that is reimagining scalable solutions to unsheltered homelessness. In partnership with cities, supportive services agencies and private stakeholders, DignityMoves rapidly builds cost-effective interim supportive housing communities. Utilizing unused land, relocatable prefabricated units and emergency building provisions, the organization empowers municipalities to address the homelessness epidemic with appropriate urgency. DignityMoves is also committed to driving systemic change through impactful policy and advocacy, in collaboration with lawmakers and community leaders to build an ecosystem that supports the growth of interim supportive housing as a powerful tool in ending unsheltered homelessness. Our founder and CEO, Elizabeth Funk, recently joined The Giveback Economy podcast for a conversation on innovation and how new approaches like interim supportive housing offer cost-effective, scalable solutions to addressing unsheltered homelessness. We can’t solve homelessness overnight, but giving people a stable, dignified place to stay while they get back on their feet is a proven step forward. Hear about our work, the challenges, and why innovation and collaboration matter more than ever. ?? Check out the complete episode here:?https://lnkd.in/eX3YqumG

Lack of privacy is the primary reason people refuse group shelters. In our communities, everyone has the dignity of a private room, each equipped with a bed, desk, heating/AC, and a lockable door. These spaces provide comfort, security, and a foundation for healing. Here, residents are empowered to take the next steps toward achieving long-term stability and permanent housing. Every room at DignityMoves offers more than just four walls—it gives residents a fresh start in a safe, stable environment within a supportive community. Join us in creating more spaces where people can begin their journey out of homelessness and rebuild their lives ?? ?? Link in comments below!

Earlier this week, we teamed up with our incredible partners at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck for a #Thanksgiving Donation Drive - Lunch & Learn Event at their Sacramento office. The volunteers assembled 'Dignity Bags' with everyday hygiene essentials purchased from a thoughtfully curated wish list. These bags will be distributed to our residents, providing them with much-needed items to support their journey out of homelessness. We're so grateful to the Brownstein team for their generosity and for sharing our commitment to restoring dignity and hope for our neighbors in need. Events like this remind us of the power of collaboration in making a tangible difference!?

Our communities feature a dining area that offers residents a comfortable space to come together, share a meal, and build connections. At DignityMoves, we believe community is essential. By creating spaces where people can support one another, we're not only providing interim housing but also helping residents develop meaningful connections as they work toward stability.?

On this #VeteransDay, we’re reminded of the sacrifices made by those who served—and the work that remains to support them. While we’ve made significant progress—Veteran homelessness has dropped by over 50% since 2010—more than 35,000 Veterans are still experiencing homelessness in America, with over 15,000 unsheltered, according to the latest Point-in-Time count. In partnership with Lutheran Social Services of Southern California and the City of San Bernardino, we’re developing the San Bernardino Community Wellness Campus. This transformative community will feature 140 modular housing units specifically for chronically homeless individuals, including our honored Veterans. It will provide them with a safe place to stabilize and access essential services as they transition to permanent housing. As we honor Veterans today, let’s renew our commitment to ensuring every one of them has a stable place to call home. Together, we can make Veteran homelessness a thing of the past.

At DignityMoves, we believe that the power of community strengthens the journey out of homelessness. Each of our communities fosters connection, support, and safety because we know that when people have others to lean on, they’re empowered to take the steps necessary toward rebuilding their lives. From shared spaces to private rooms that offer dignity and security, we’re creating environments where everyone can catch their breath, heal, and recover. Together, we’re not just building housing—we’re building hope, resilience, and healing.??? ??
