After four years of careful study. We have a conclusion to the question "Why do people buy a Dignity Lifts toilet lift. 1. Because they absolutely positively need it. 2. They need a toilet lift to stay out of assisted living. 3. Because while their minds are still independent, their bodies are failing them. No one on God's green earth wants a toilet lift. No one buys one because they are nifty or sexy. They buy it at the last second or even after that. They buy it when they are in rehab and can't go home unless they can toilet themselves or they buy it after they have been stuck on the toilet for too long. People NEED a #toiletlift and we are very proud to provide them. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gjJCn-tE

What are you doing in the bathroom? That's the question we will be discussing at a home modification conference this week. We are hoping for a fun chat.

"What are you doing in the bathroom?" is the catchy title I came up with for a roundtable discussion at a home modification conference. It must have worked because it filled up. I have a strong belief that no matter what work we do, when you are with your peers, humor helps the day go by. Is anyone out there in a macabre profession that jokes around in the back office?

I'm reaching out to any #occupationaltherapists I have a customer that needs a device to help him transfer from his wheelchair into a vehicle. It is a compact SUV so there isn't a big height difference, but he and his wife are struggling. What are you familiar with? Thanks.

Here are 10 Terrible Things Dignity Lifts Prevent 1. Having someone stand there while you go to the bathroom. Ugh!?Giving up your restful bathroom time would be a tragedy. ? 2. Falling is awful, falling in the bathroom is even worse, falling while your pants are around your ankles is the worstest. Also, bathrooms are full of hard surfaces and tight spaces which can cause severe injuries in a fall. ? 3. Not being able to go to the bathroom when you want. If you need help, you have to wait for a person to help you. I don’t know about you, but sometimes my bowels wait for no one. ? 4. Requiring family to be with you continuously. This your relationships. This may prevent your children or spouse from leaving the house, going on trips, spending time with their friends and their children. It may even prevent family members from working and building their future. ? 5. Extra tall toilet seats are a terrible thing. Mainly because they cause constipation. Extra tall toilet seats reduce the amount your body squats. This restricts your ability to evacuate and causes constipation. Toilet lifts lower you down fully making it easier to poop. ? 6. Family stress makes everyone miserable. Toilet Lifts provide peace of mind when your family knows you are independent, happy, and safe. ? 7. Caregiver injuries make matters worse. Toilet lifts prevent caregiver injuries by eliminating difficult lifting situations. Lifting an adult human off of a toilet usually requires you to bend over and lift with your back. This can easily cause your spouse, family member, or hired caregiver an injury. ? 8. Home health care expenses add up fast, especially if you need toileting help, which is around-the-clock. ? 9. No one wants to move to assisted living. I have not met a single person that was looking forward to moving to an assisted living facility. Everyone wants to stay right where they are whether it be their home or in independent living. But if you and your occupational therapist cannot come up with a good toileting plan you will have to move. We can help. Toilet Lifts help you stay safe in your home. ? 10. Long term care expenses can drain your assets. Toilet lifts help delay that process. This one is a little tough to understand, but if someone cannot care for themselves and doesn’t have the cash to pay for an assisted living facility, they can seek help from Medicaid. Medicaid will eventually pay for a facility, but only after an “asset spend down”. This means that they will be forced to sell (not gift away) their home, and drain all of their accounts. The result is that any family wealth will quickly disappear into bills for that facility.? ? 11. (Bonus!) Gone is the enjoyment of a good fart. How can you enjoy a hearty toot while knowing that whomever is required to be in the bathroom with you has to endure it.? ? Thanks for reading our post. I’m pretty sure you never really thought much about toilet lifts so I wanted to get you up to speed.?

See you in Iowa next week?

CEO - Dignity Lifts - Toilet Lifts - Helping Seniors Live Independently and Age In Place

Why am I going to Iowa again? Does Iowa lead the nation in people getting stuck on the toilet? No. California probably does, they have almost 40 million seniors. Iowa only has 3 million. So why am I going to Iowa and not California? Iowa is where the durable medical equipment stores meet up every year. Dignity Lifts is trying hard to have dealers all over the country. You see, customers want to try the lifts out in person, and dealers allow that. So I travel wherever I can to meet with potential dealers. Next week, I am in Waterloo, Iowa. It is nice there. They have a nice riverfront and charming restaurants. It reminds me of Des Moines, Iowa, which I also enjoy. If you want to learn more about us, visit https://DignityLifts.com and see our complete lineup of toilet lifts.

Dignity Lifts are excited to be moving into a new home soon. We just got the keys and have some cleaning up to do. We won't be getting homesick though, our new location is across the parking lot from our old one. We will be moving mainly with our forklift. We are hoping for a simple move that will be complete by the end of May 2024.??Here is a video of our new place.
