Computing For All's Mandira Virmani and Thomas Jacobs were invited by the West Sound STEM Network to their region's first Career Connect Council (CCC) in-person meeting in Bremerton, WA. The council is dedicated to working together to expand hands-on learning and industry-focused career exploration and preparation in schools and connect with leaders in our community to implement tactics that expand Career Connected Learning opportunities for young people in our region, especially those furthest from opportunity. Thank you Deborah Welsh and Kareen Borders for the opportunity to speak about Computing For All's work as WA state Sector Intermediary for IT & Cybersecurity and share opportunities for collaboration. A shoutout to my fellow partner in crime Amy Barto, the Healthcare Sector Intermediary for the great work that you are doing! #diversityintech #careerconnectwa #careerconnectedlearning

? A Heartfelt Thank You to Amazon and Keri Pravitz! ? We are incredibly grateful to Amazon for their generous donation to our Software Development Pre-Apprenticeship program. Philanthropic support is vital to our mission of empowering low-income, women, BIPOC, and underrepresented minorities with the skills and training necessary to thrive in today’s tech workforce. With Amazon’s contribution, we can continue to offer hands-on training, mentorship, and essential resources to talented high school and college students furthest from opportunity. This support not only equips them with valuable experience but also helps bring more diverse voices to the forefront of tech innovation. Amazon’s commitment to community development aligns seamlessly with our mission and goals, and we are truly thankful for this partnership. Together, we are making a meaningful impact! As we budget for 2025 in a potentially uncertain economic environment, we are seeking continued financial support from companies and individuals who can donate money or time to our program. You can visit computingforall.org to donate, or reach out to us here to learn more about volunteering opportunities, such as visiting our virtual classroom to speak with our students about job roles in tech. Many thanks to our friends who have donated in the past. We look forward to building more supportive community relationships in the year to come! #ThankYou #Amazon #CommunitySupport #ITPreApprenticeship #Empowerment #WebDevelopment #DiversityInTech

It was great to have the CareerWise USA team in Seattle last week to speak to employers about the benefits of youth apprenticeship programs. One of the main benefits of apprenticeship for employers is that it addresses organizational inclusion goals by building diverse talent pipelines for early career positions and allows employers to earn measurable ROI by having apprentices do productive work. It was great to speak to so many employers including Bank of America, City of Bellevue, Washington, Seattle Bank, Seattle Children's, Seattle Information Technology Department, TEKsystems and WatchTower IT Solutions. Thank you for your partnership in helping us create awareness of and develop apprenticeship programs in IT Ryan Gensler and Sarah L.C. Grobbel. #diversityintech #youthapprenticeship #careerwise #careerconnectwa
