Analytics @ Molson Coors | Transforming Data into Actionable Insights | Data Scientist | Azure Databricks | Tableau | SQL | Python | Finance | I help International Students Land Data Jobs in US

If you’re an international student struggling to get a job in the US, this is for you. Over the past few months, I’ve spoken with many job seekers who are doing everything right - tailoring resumes, networking, and applying consistently - but still not getting responses. While a small percentage manage to land interviews, most are stuck waiting for that first screening call. If that sounds familiar, here are a few alternative paths that might help: ? Explore Startups: Startups often prioritize skills and potential over formal experience. They provide hands-on learning and rapid growth opportunities. Platforms like Wellfound , Crunchbase, Y Combinator, TrueUp and CrunchBoard can help you discover these hidden opportunities. ? Consider Contract Roles: Contract jobs give you practical experience, flexibility, and a chance to build a professional network. Check out websites like Robert Half, TEKsystems, Kforce Inc, Michael Page and Insight Global for contract openings. ? Look at Mid-Sized Companies: These companies often have less competition and quicker hiring processes. Portals like The Muse, Built In and FlexJobs can help you explore opportunities with companies you may not have considered. ? Use H1B Portals: If visa sponsorship is a priority, leverage platforms like MyVisaJobs.com and H1BGrader to identify companies that sponsor visas. You can filter results based on location and domain. ? Check Out Non-Profits: Non-profits offer a great way to gain experience while making an impact. Websites like Idealist.org, Devex, and HigherEdJobs list relevant opportunities in this sector. The goal is to build experience and strengthen your profile so that you can pivot to your target companies later. Sometimes, a different route can take you exactly where you want to be. Stay flexible and keep exploring. Have you come across any other helpful job boards? Drop them in the comments so others can benefit! If you found this helpful, feel free to ?? repost it with others who might benefit. What tech recruiters REALLY look for in a CV If you only list skills on your resume, you’re missing the?BIGGEST hiring signal. A strong resume isn’t just about listing what you know—it’s about showing?what you’ve done with those skills. Here’s what tech recruiters actually look for: ??Impact-driven bullet points?→ Show how your work made a difference. ? "Developed backend APIs" ? "Built and optimized RESTful APIs, reducing load times by 40%" ??Measurable results?→ Numbers tell the real story. ? "Tested software for bugs" ? "Identified and resolved 25+ critical bugs, improving system stability by 35%" ??Clear career progression?→ Show growth, learning, and leadership. Hiring managers want to see how you’ve evolved from projects to leadership, from junior to senior-level contributions. A big mistake? Copy-pasting job descriptions into your resume. AI-driven resume screeners might like it, but recruiters?don’t.?Instead of stuffing your CV with exact job description phrases, focus on?strategic SEO (keyword optimization)—make sure the right terms are there, but frame them around your actual contributions. The key:?your resume should pass the?AI filter AND?impress a real person. Want a recruiter to review your resume? Drop your?questions?in the comments! ? #HiringTips #TechRecruiting #JobSearch #TechJobs?#CareersInTech?#JobSearch

  • The #1 resume mistake that’s costing you interviews Ever wonder why you’re getting rejected before the interview? It’s not because you don’t have the skills. It’s because your resume isn’t selling your?impact. Most CS majors and aspiring tech professionals make one critical mistake:?they list tasks instead of achievements. Here’s the difference: ??"Completed coding projects in Python" ??"Built and deployed a machine learning model with 92% accuracy" ??"Worked on front-end development" ??"Designed and optimized UI components that improved user engagement by 30%" ??"Assisted in debugging software" ??"Identified and fixed 15+ critical bugs, reducing system crashes by 40%" Recruiters don’t just want to know?what?you did—they want to see?how your work made an impact. So, quantify your achievements! Use metrics like performance improvements, efficiency gains, or user engagement to show your contributions. Your resume should?tell a story—one that shows?you don’t just complete tasks, you create results. Want more resume tips tailored for CS majors?
