We decided this year to be more involved in the future of Digital Assets in Australia. Chantra Hang attended the Policy Forum last week at NSW Parliament House. A big part of this is to be proactive with the policy changes needed for a innovative and equitable industry to thrive in this country, while maintaining the highest levels of customer protections available. It's easy enough to stay on the sidelines and wish for the best, but that's not how we do things at Vield. Big thanks to Amy-Rose Goodey and the team at Digital Economy Council of Australia (DECA) for putting together such a great day. Can't forget to thank Steve Vallas and Richelle Cox for the amazing Policy Week.

The Digital Economy Council of Australia (DECA) welcomes the release of the Government’s statement, led by Treasurer Jim Chalmers, on developing an innovative Australian digital asset industry. We are encouraged by the continued engagement with industry and regulators, and the focus on aligning with international best practice. The four key focus areas outlined provide a solid foundation for the next phase of regulatory development: ?? A framework for Digital Asset Platforms (DAPs), focusing on custody and consumer protection. ?? A framework for payment stablecoins, aligning these instruments with existing financial services regulation. ?? A review of Australia’s Enhanced Regulatory Sandbox to encourage innovation. ?? Initiatives aimed at safely unlocking the potential of digital asset technology across financial markets and the broader economy. We commend the Government’s commitment to supporting innovation, improving risk management capabilities, and addressing critical and ongoing challenges such as de-banking. DECA will continue working closely with members, regulators, and government to ensure that Australia remains competitive on the global stage and that industry voices are represented in the regulatory journey ahead.
