Attention Families and Loved Ones of Deceased Veterans I’m hiking the Appalachian Trail (thru hike) in 2026. My goal is to complete this event in 120 days (4 months). My mission – to bring awareness to Veteran mental health and Veteran Suicide (average of 22 Veterans die by suicide every day in the US). I am a disabled US Marine Veteran. I want to honor our fallen heroes. I need your help. I want to dedicate each day of my hike to a specific veteran. If you want me to mention your Veteran by name in my daily vlog while on the AT, contact me using DM here on LinkedIn. The Veteran did not have to die by suicide. #honorthefallen #disabledveterans #veterans #veteranmentalhealth

Another big weekend . . . A big day on the trail . . . 23+ miles. Plus, a new donation in my GoFundMe! The challenge to prepare, train, and thru-hike the Appalachian Trail is real. Most people think I’m overpreparing for this event. Am I? I hike 80+ miles every week carrying a heavy rucksack. At this point, it’s commonplace for me to get 20+ miles on any given Sunday. My time on trail is sacred – going beyond just physical exercise. Have you found your sacred space where you can focus, ground yourself, and recharge your life’s batteries? I’m still in need of your support to help get me up and over the Appalachian Trail in 2026. I‘m at $599 in donations – this disabled veteran still has a long way to go! This Sunday’s win! When Challenges Come It’s easy to run and hide . . . unless you’re out in nature. I spend a lot of time in nature. This past Sunday, I hiked 23.80 miles. In the wind and the rain (intentionally). I knew the wind and the rain were coming. I hiked anyway. In preparation for the Appalachian Trail (2026). There . . . I will not be able to avoid the wind and the rain. So, I need to prepare mentally and physically. When we know how, we can prepare for challenges appropriately. When we don’t know how, we have to learn as we go. Remember, life gives us the test FIRST, then teaches us the lesson! This is what it looked like . . . https://lnkd.in/egn6tf3b

Life is full challenges and obstacles . . . As I prepare for the Appalachian Trail hike (2026), my training takes me directly into the path of danger! My response . . . stay cool under pressure, know your space, and talk your way through the challenge. As always, I appreciate your support. Snakes on the trail. If you can, support my GoFundMe campaign across the AT - link in comments. https://lnkd.in/e-VDaQvC

Have You Ever Thought About How The Air Outside Benefits You? I spend a lot of time hiking. That means I’m outside a lot. With PTSD, I need space to re-organize and center my mind. I need to be outside. Why? Emotional Benefits ??Enhanced Mood: The beauty and serenity of nature can elevate mood and bring about feelings of awe, gratitude, and contentment. ??Increased Resilience: Exposure to nature helps build emotional resilience by offering a calming space to process emotions and find perspective. ??Connection and Meaning: Nature can create a sense of belonging and purpose, reinforcing positive emotions and reducing feelings of isolation. This is what I receive every day, with every hike, with every step. What about you?

Know Before You Go Did you know that spending time outside is good for you? Seems like a no-brainer, right? But how many people actually open their front door and breathe the air? These are the top 5 psychological benefits from spending time outside! Reduced Stress: Natural environments lower cortisol levels (a stress hormone), promoting relaxation and mental clarity. Improved Focus and Creativity: Time in nature can restore attention and enhance problem-solving skills, a concept known as *attention restoration theory. Reduced Anxiety and Depression: Studies suggest that exposure to green spaces can decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression by fostering feelings of tranquility and connection. Mindfulness and Presence: Nature encourages living in the moment, reducing rumination (repetitive negative thoughts). And what do I do when I’m outside? Train for the Appalachian Trail thru-hike in 2026! See my progress below! Another 22-mile day! I appreciate the support. If you can invest in my success as I train for the AT, drop $7 in my GoFundMe account. That would be awesome – link in comments.

Can Introverts Be Leaders? Great question. To answer this question, I asked Sharissa (Sebastian) Deppen, MBA, CPC, PCC, MBTI, MSc to give us some insights. On this episode of Trail to Transformation, Sharissa shares her personal story, then gives us wisdom to step into our own Leadership Zone of Genius. Key Takeaways ? Self-awareness is crucial – Understanding your personality, strengths, and values allows you to lead effectively without burnout. ? Introverts make excellent leaders – They excel in deep thinking, empathy, and active listening, which are valuable leadership traits. ? Avoid the comparison trap – Instead of measuring yourself against extroverted norms, focus on aligning with your strengths. ? Coaching and support matter – Seeking guidance can be transformative in overcoming imposter syndrome and professional obstacles. ? Confidence comes from alignment – When you align with your strengths and passions, stepping into leadership feels natural. Please listen and subscribe! https://lnkd.in/ecJJQmQk

What Seems Impossible May Not Be Impossible What does 22.25 miles look like? Steps: 52,232 Calories burned: 1,840 (probably more, I was carrying a 42-pound rucksack) Time on Trail: 8:01.10 Average Speed: 2.8 mph Sunday (yesterday), I set out on my weekly hike at First Landing State Park (link in comments). Typically, my goal is 20 miles on Sundays. Yesterday was an extraordinary day (see details above). Set your mind to what you want to accomplish; let your body do the rest!
