  • ⚡️NEW DATA ALERT ⚡️ Cornerstone Advisors & Alkami Technology released the 2025 Digital Banking Performance Metrics report. Check this out 👇 DIGITAL SPENDING SLOWED AFTER THE BOOM 🔹 After 3 years of double-digit % growth, AVG digital spend fell ~30%. 🔹 ‘23 AVG: $779K per $1B in assets 🔹 ‘24 AVG: $551K per $1B in assets  DIGITAL BANKING IS A SEA OF SAMENESS There is a growing parity among FIs:  🔹 ~90% offer card management controls 🔹 ~75% enable travel notifications 🔹 ~70% provide PFM, bill pay management, credit monitoring, & savings goal-setting. The opportunity: Just 16% offer subscription management (poised to double by year-end). Our take 👉 FIs dumped $$$ into digital, but to what end? It didn't drive differentiation. Accenture reported that top banks' mobile app ratings are consistently above 4.5/5. It's tough to carve out a superior position when everyone makes the same moves. We beg you: Dare to be different! 💪 DIGITAL ACCOUNT OPENINGS ARE UP & SO IS ABANDONMENT The % of digital checking account openings grew 31% YoY, but don’t get too excited. 🔹 Just 1 in 5 checking accounts are originated online. 🔹 Digital loan apps remained flat (41% of the total) 🔹 The AVG digital app abandonment rate more than doubled YoY (to 67%) Our take 👉 For crying out loud! It's '25 & 80% of checking accounts are opened in a branch? We can do better. Let's take a cue from the simple experiences Neobanks offer. MEGABANKS & NEOBANKS ARE WINNING Community banks & CUs have a product problem. 🔹 They captured only 9% of new accounts opened in ‘24 🔹 Megabanks & Neobanks don’t just have speedy account opening, they designed better products. 🔹 Fintechs like Chime, Dave & MoneyLion offer new customers a “line of credit” 🔹 Open a new checking account & a brokerage account at JPMorgan Chase, & you get $900. Our take 👉 We wouldn't give Chase that much credit. If you have to bribe people to adopt your products, you have a product problem, too. ACTIVE DIGITAL USERS ARE UP 🔹 AVG active digital banking users as a % of checking accts is up 10% YoY (85%). (Remember that joint owners inflate this figure.) 🔹 Active digital users log in an AVG of 4x/week eSTATEMENTS ARE DOWN 🔹 70% of active digital users have eStatements (down 14% YoY). 🔹 That’s not the full story. Sometimes, eStatements are a requirement. 🔹 Just 54% of active digital users actually opted out of paper statements. Our take 👉 Don't make people log in to opt out of paper! It creates friction & tanks your adoption figures. CROSS-SELLING IS SLIGHTLY UP The AVG FI expanded its relationships with digital users by 1.22 new products per year (up 15%). Our take 👉 Cross-sell efforts fail when you don't engage customers & members first. Help them use the products they opened, make your offers targeted & easy to accept & you'll see greater success! While one burdensome rule has been struck down, new consumer protection standards are still moving forward.
