Are Jersey’s roads safe for cyclists? ?? Our LifeCycle data project revealed some key safety concerns: ?? Cyclists logged 1,000+ road issues, including potholes, braking hazards, and swerving hotspots. ?? Close passes by cars were common, particularly on Longueville Rd, La Grande Route de St. Martin, and La Grande Route de St. Pierre. ??♀? Women tended to ride on main roads, possibly due to safety concerns. Better data provision, through projects such as LifeCycle, could ultimately enable more informed planning, and contribute to safer cycling for Jersey.

??♂? Where do cyclists in Jersey ride? And why does it matter? The LifeCycle project gave us real data to answer those questions - take a look below: ?? Route Popularity: Most cycling happens in the flat southern routes to St Helier and on dedicated tracks. But people are pedaling all over the island. ?? Journey Start & End Points: Most rides begin or end in St Helier, but many areas lack proper cycling infrastructure despite high activity. ?? Male vs Female Routes: Women tend to stick to main roads, while men cycle more widely. Could safety concerns be influencing these choices? Ultimately, better data provision, through projects such as LifeCycle, could enable more informed planning, and contribute to an improved cycling experience for all. #LifeCycle #DigitalJersey #JerseyCI
