DigiKey spent Saturday and Sunday at the Willow Springs International Raceway observing the 2024 Formula SAE "SoCal Shootout" event. Eight university racing teams, along with 200 engineering students pit their custom built race cars in competition for top place in various categories. I am very impressed by the grit and technical brilliance exhibited by all the racing teams. Some of them troubleshooting and fine tuning their racing machines into the night at near freezing temperatures of the California High Desert. All the teams know of DigiKey, many of them long time fans of the company; they are very glad that DigiKey showed up at the event with the high quality "merch" that DigiKey is known for at student events. We gave away hundreds of DigiKey rulers at the event. We also exhibited products from suppliers including Red Pitaya, Seeed Studio, Phase Dock Inc. , and STMicroelectronics. Personally, I enjoyed interacting with the students and talking shop with them. I learned a lot and came away very impressed by these Formula SAE student organizations and what they do on weekends for fun.
