Making moves at Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD)! Big congratulations to our team! Our recent publication, "Development of a Real-time Force-based Algorithm for Infusion Failure Detection", was selected from over 300 studies to be presented at the prestigious ATTD Plenary Yearbook Session. We are honored to see SMARTFUSION recognized as the leading system for improving infusion failure detection in insulin pumps and AID systems by both the industry and academic community. Personalizing Insulin Delivery for People with Diabetes
关于我们
Diatech Diabetes, Inc. develops innovative solutions that empower the lives of patients, families, and communities impacted by diabetes. Having originated from the issues our founders faced with their own diabetes care technology, Diatech Diabetes is inspired to work endlessly towards optimizing therapies for patients worldwide. Current insulin pump infusion sets and occlusion alarms can compromise the health of a person with diabetes during insulin pump failures. These failures range from blocks, leaks, and infusing into damaged tissue affected by lipohypertrophy that may prevent insulin from being absorbed into the body. Diatech Diabetes is developing SMARTFUSION?, a software platform for insulin pumps that monitors insulin delivery for accuracy and infusion set failure. When SMARTFUSION?'s software is integrated into an insulin pump system, its algorithm uses data from the pump, continuous glucose monitor, and patient to monitor the success of daily insulin dosages. SMARTFUSION?’s features will include: - Alerts to other malfunctions such as leaks and improper insertion - Reviewable data on how infusion performance/habits affect diabetes control - Instant infusion failure alerts to connected devices - Custom settings to prevent alarm fatigue - Infusion set wear time recommendations - Personalized tips for healthy infusion based on habits These features could allow insulin pump users to know the exact time at which their infusion set needs to be changed and when infusion accuracy is lost to avoid potentially life-threatening blood sugar. For healthcare providers, SMARTFUSION? allows for the collection of data related to infusion site health and characterizing malfunctions for each of their patients. This data could be uploaded through diabetes management platforms during check-ups and assist providers with ensuring their patients are accurately using insulin pump technology. SMARTFUSION? is Not Currently Proven for Human Use.

Thank you to the American Heart Association for hosting our team as winners of the 2024 AHA Business Accelerator! We had an awesome time learning about how to improve outcomes for people living with diabetes and cardiovascular conditions ???? Thank you to AHA President-elect Dr. Stacey E. Rosen, MD, FAHA and to the AHA staff Michelle Raphael, Arika A. Cason, David Santeusanio, and Christa Chambers-Price for the opportunity to pitch and attend.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy #WorldDiabetesDay ???? We are grateful to celebrate this day as a member company of the Diabetes Center Berne – an awesome diabetes organization leading research, innovation, and advocacy across our world. If you are a researcher, innovator, advocate, influencer, or all of the above in the diabetes space, definitely connect with DCB to help make positive, sustainable change in diabetes care worldwide!
?? Today marks #WorldDiabetesDay, a day dedicated to raising awareness about diabetes and honouring the birth of Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin with Charles Best in 1922! ??♀? ??♂? Living with diabetes is more than physical blood sugar management – it can also deeply impact mental and emotional well-being, leading to diabetes burnout and higher rates of conditions like depression. Today, advances in diabetes technology are striving to reduce this burden, empowering people to live healthier, less stressful lives. ?? We’re honored to work alongside innovators and researchers committed to our goal of making life easier for people with diabetes, creating user-centric solutions that ease the mental load of diabetes management – instead of adding to it. ? ?????? Publication Announcement ?????? The preclinical results of SMARTFUSION?, our insulin pump infusion failure detection algorithm, have been published in the Journal of Diabetes Science and Technology Diabetes Technology Society (DTS)! Some key findings: ? Increased detection accuracy with low false positive and negative rates ? Immediate detection of infusion failures without hyperglycemia ? Utilization of data directly sourced from onboard insulin pump sensors We are excited to now move towards clinical testing and compatibility with on-market insulin pumps! Many thanks to our collaborators Dr. Michael Hughes and Dr. Rayhan Lal at Stanford University, as well as our great team of advisors Marzia Cescon, Jasmin Kastner, Pernelle Kruse Sch?ndorff, and all others who contributed to this research. We greatly thank our funding partners at JDRF International, National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), and the Consortium for Technology & Innovation in Pediatrics. Want to connect or have questions about this study? Please reach out to us at [email protected].

Our team had an amazing time as guest speakers at the 2024 ACC InVenture Prize Competition held at our very own alma mater Florida State University and Florida State University - Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship! We had the opportunity to share our own startup journey (all the highs and lows) with emerging businesses leaders in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Thank you Ken Baldauf, Britain Dwyre Riley, and Dr. Susan Fiorito for creating a space that connected us with so many collegiate entrepreneurs who sat in the same seats we were in not so long ago. Fun fact: pictured in the last image is the very first pitch of Diatech Diabetes, Inc. given 6 years ago in the exact same spot we stood this past week! #FSU #ACC #innovation #startupgrowth #inventureprize #diabetescare #diabetestechnology
