  • Mark Zuckerberg just announced a HUGE CHANGE coming to Meta ?? Not only will Community Notes replace third-party fact checkers on Meta's platforms, but Facebook, Instagram and Threads will all be phasing civic/political content back into the feeds. These are two of the bigger changes that will be rolling out in the next few months, starting in the United States. However, there is a lot more coming according to the 5+ minute video published by Zuck on Tuesday. Read each slide to get the full breakdown.

  • Is TikTok really going to get banned in the US? As of last week, it looked like it was highly possible unless they adhere to the sell-off deadline of January 19th. However, on Monday, TikTok filed an injunction asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review legislation banning the social media app if ByteDance does not sell by the US government's deadline. It seems as if they're waiting for the chance that the new administration could reverse the law passed last year. However, there is still a lot to be figured out in the next month so TikTok's future in the US remains unknown. The one thing that IS known: American users who already have the app can still use it even if it is banned. However, the app will be unavailable in any US app store and updates will be unavailable, eventually making the app unusable. Be sure to follow us for more social media news and updates!

  • Let's address a CONFUSING Instagram Announcement that came out 10 days ago! ?? Back on the 17th, several big creators announced that they received a notification from Instagram saying that their Story Highlights would no longer be above the grid. The notification explained that they'll have their own tab and appear on the grid starting November 19th. There was no official announcement from Instagram, so we waited to see what happened on the 19th. Well, it's 8 days later and nothing so far. But it sure has sparked a lot of controversy! While some news articles are saying this is absolutely happening, others are saying that this is a test. With no direct confirmation from Instagram so far, we're all wondering... Is this really going to happen? Historically, Story Highlights have been another great way to showcase your business, personal life, etc in a time stamped and organized way. While we value the idea of seeing more grid content "above the fold" as Mosseri explained, we also wonder: Will anyone even care about Story Highlights anymore if this is made a permanent change? While time will tell, we are super curious if this means watch rates of Story Highlights are down and the concept of them are becoming less important.   • New Primary Metrics on Facebook were announced and updated late last week! ?? The former primary metric, Reach, has been updated to Views, following Instagram’s same switch this past August. By Definition Per Instagram: Views = The number of times a reel started to play or replay OR the number of times a non-reel appeared on a person’s screen. For a full breakdown ?? Views = Number of times the content was viewed. In our opinion, this is a simpler way of saying impressions. Reach = Unique number of people who saw your content Let’s say someone sees your content three different times. Since they are just one person, this counts as “1” for reach, but 3 in terms of views/impressions. The relationship between reach and views/impressions dictates FREQUENCY, meaning the number of times someone saw your content. What does this mean? Not much other than your Professional Dashboard and Business Suite Insight Dashboard looking a little different. As we saw on Instagram, the “Reach” measurement that is dominantly shown is now “Views.” Due to the fact that most pieces of content are seen multiple times by Meta users, Views is often times a much higher number than Reach. However, you can still find and measure Reach on both your Professional Dashboard and Meta Business Suite, so don’t let this update confuse you! The bottom line: To us, this change is minimal and nothing huge since all metrics including reach, views, link clicks, etc are still available to us. The most important thing is understanding what these metrics mean and how they translate to success for your business. Make sure you have clearly defined goals and KPIs and that you’re watching your analytics regularly! #SocialMediaNews?#FacebookMarketing?#FacebookNews?#MetaNews?#SocialMediaAnalytics

  • Boosting just got easier on Instagram ?? In the past, certain post types were ineligible for boosting due to Meta's restrictions or copyright concerns. Although music restrictions remain in place, Instagram is now allowing *most* posts to be eligible for boosting despite those factors. In addition, if copyright concerns with the audio track are prohibiting your post from being eligible for boosting, you will be able to swap your audio out after publishing it! Win-win if you ask us! What are your thoughts?
