With an investment of US$120 million (RMB 800 million) that will span nine years, the YunTuo云拓Single Malt Whisky Distillery is Diageo’s first whisky production site in China and represents our ongoing commitment to provide Chinese consumers with the finest products and contribute to the sustainable and innovative development of China’s beverage alcohol sector. At 2,100 metres above sea level, the distillery in Eryuan County, Yunnan Province, benefits from a temperate climate, rich biodiversity and natural resources, including access to fresh spring water that feeds the region’s pristine Erhai highland lake. This Mental Health Awareness Month, I’m proud to share Diageo and DRINKiQ’s latest campaign, ‘Men on a Mission’. In partnership with UK Men's Sheds Association (UKMSA), this incredible campaign encourages older men to ‘make being well a mission’. New data from UKMSA has revealed that one in four men aged 50-75 ‘hardly ever or never’ think about their mental wellbeing - a challenge UKMSA is addressing head-on. I recently had the privilege of visiting a Shed, and witnessed first-hand how these spaces nurture a sense of purpose and community. At the heart of the?campaign is former boxer Tony Bellew. Tony, as well as the Shedders interviewed, is so wonderfully candid about mental wellness – speaking on the transition from boxing to the risks of the “hole that retirement brings”. Diageo’s partnership with UKMSA is a critical part of our commitment to doing business the right way, not only through supporting men’s wellbeing but likewise in promoting moderation. UKMSA data also shows that older men are likely to drink more alcohol, and more frequently, than other age group, with Men on a Mission campaigning for men to better recognise tipping points with alcohol consumption. This is such an important topic, and I’ll be encouraging my colleagues to keep conversations on mental wellbeing going throughout this month and beyond. If you know a man aged 50-75, consider sharing this video with them and maybe pointing them towards their nearest Men’s Shed, which they can find on UKMSA’s website. ??
