It’s RED Friday, so you already know the deal… But today we’re doing it Devil Dog-style — because no one embodies Remember Everyone Deployed like the Marine Corps 0300 community. From the 0311 riflemen holding the line to the 0331s laying down hate like belt-fed poets, to the 0341 mortarmen lobbing freedom arcs, the 0351s who solved problems with high explosives, and 0352s who gamed real life with TOWs before Xbox had a graphics card — this week has been for you. So if you're out there, boots laced, flak on, sweating somewhere the average American couldn't find on a map... we see you. The rest of us might be enjoying a warm bed and a beer, but we know the price that luxury comes with. Y’all are the reason we can take a breath of freedom today. From all of us at DIA — thanks for carrying the torch. And to everyone else: grab your RED gear, wear it proudly, and never forget the ones still pushing dirt in hostile lands. Get your R.E.D. March for the 03s: Honoring the 0331 Machinegunners – The Lords of Suppression There’s a reason machinegunners have been called the backbone of battlefield destruction—because nothing says "bad day for the enemy" like a wall of lead screaming across the battlefield at cyclical rates of fire that make grown men reconsider their life choices. The 0331 life meant humping a solid chunk of steel, like a beloved but brutally unforgiving mistress, up hills, through mud, and across miles of misery only to set it up, fire a burst, and immediately have to displace because some LT thought your position was “too obvious.” And let’s not forget the ammo men—the true pack mules of the Corps, hauling endless belts of 7.62, jugs of CLP, and spare barrels heavier than their hopes and dreams. It was a brotherhood of pain, but damn, was it glorious pain. Machinegunners don’t aim, they AREA DENY. The .50 cal was a religion and the M240B was a hymn of destruction. And sure, the average life expectancy of a machinegunner in past wars was about eight seconds, but let’s be real: they were a glorious eight seconds of sheer chaos, violence, and absolute battlefield supremacy. So here’s to the 0331s, the lords of suppression, the men who turned ammo into freedom, one belt at a time. Raise a barrel, kiss your ammo man (or at least buy him a beer), and never stop sending hate downrange. March for the 03s: Honoring the 0352 TOW Gunners – The Original Combat Gamers Long before UAVs were turning war into a Call of Duty livestream, before nerds in air-conditioned bunkers were racking up confirmed kills from a thousand miles away, there were the 0352s. These Marine Corps missile snipers pioneered the art of guided destruction, manually steering TOW missiles onto targets like it was a high-stakes arcade game with no extra lives. With thermal sights locked on enemy armor, they sat behind their launchers with steady hands, nerves of steel, and the patience of a dude waiting for his VA claim to get processed. Tanks? Bunkers? APCs? If it needed to go boom in the most dramatic, fiery, Hollywood-worthy way possible, an 0352 was on it. They practically invented "fire and forget"—except there was no forgetting, because every hit was the stuff of legend. So here’s to the original drone pilots who played real-life missile flight sims long before it was cool. You brought hellfire before Hellfire missiles were a thing and left enemy armor smoking husks on the battlefield. Salute to the 0352s—keep pressing that launch button, wherever you are. March for the 03s: Honoring the 0351 Assaultmen – The Boomers We Actually Respected Once upon a time, before the Marine Corps decided, "nah, we don’t need dudes who specialize in blowing things up," there was the 0351 Assaultman—the kings of controlled chaos, the lords of breaching, and the only guys who could turn a solid wall into an open door with one well-placed SMAW round. These legends carried the Shoulder-Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon (SMAW) like a knight carried his sword, punching holes in enemy fortifications with the kind of gusto that would make a combat engineer weep. They handled rockets, explosives, and demolitions with surgical precision—or at least as precise as you can get when your job is “apply high-explosive solutions to all obstacles.” Whether it was storming Fallujah or making sure a bunker disappeared in a blaze of glory, the 0351s were the tip of the spear for aggressive demolition. Now, they may not have an MOS anymore, but they live on in spirit (and in the hearing loss they generously gifted themselves). So here’s to the boomers we actually liked—our 0351 brothers who made sure every fight started with a bang. You may be gone as an MOS, but you’ll never be forgotten. Semper Fi, and keep sending it! We’ve Pushed Ourselves to the Limits Before… Through the mud, the sand, the snow—we’ve carried the weight of battle on our backs, endured the exhaustion, and pushed forward when our bodies screamed to quit. We’ve stood our ground against impossible odds, faced down overwhelming forces, and charged headfirst into the unknown with nothing but grit and sheer stubbornness to see us through. And tonight? We’re doing it again. But this time, the battlefield is the pub, the enemy is sobriety, and our mission is clear: to drink like we just got back from a 9-month pump and the only thing standing between us and Valhalla is a Guinness and some questionable decisions. Some will fall early, others will fight to the bitter end, but in true veteran fashion, not a single one of us will regret a damn thing come morning—except maybe the tab. So here’s to all our fellow veterans who know how to push the limits and embrace the chaos. Have a legendary St. Patrick’s Day, stay safe out there, and if you’re going to do something dumb, at least make sure it’s funny. March 14 – Honoring the 0341 Mortarmen! Ah, 0341s, the tube-loving, base-plate-humping fire support heroes of the Marine Corps. You weren’t satisfied with just shooting at bad guys like a regular grunt—you wanted to rain high-explosive hate from the heavens and let gravity do the dirty work for you. While the 0311s were in the trenches, you were dialing in rounds from the rear, ensuring their bad day got worse in a very indirect, yet highly effective way. But let’s be real—humping that base plate through the desert, up mountains, and across every miserable stretch of terrain the Marine Corps could find wasn’t exactly glamorous. That thing weighed a ton, and you still had to carry your own pack, weapon, and probably some extra rounds because someone had to be the mule. And don’t even get us started on how no one ever seemed to appreciate your precise, math-heavy destruction until they really needed you. Nowadays, you might not get to call "Splash, out" on the radio, but we know you're still putting those skills to use every Fourth of July when your neighborhood fireworks display is suspiciously well-coordinated and devastatingly accurate. We see you. We respect you. And we honor all you base-plate warriors today. Here’s to the Mortarmen—the unsung heroes of indirect fire and absolute pyromaniacs at heart. Keep the rounds flying! March 13 – Honoring the 0313 LAR Marines! Ah, 0313s, the Light Armored Recon Marines—the infantry that got tired of walking and decided to roll into battle in style. You get all the joys of being a grunt without the blisters, trading in your boot leather for eight wheels of destruction. While the straight-leg 0311s are still sucking wind on some godforsaken hike, you’re already set up in an overwatch position, sipping on a warm Rip It, waiting to rain hate down on whatever poor souls decided today was the day they wanted to play with the Marine Corps. But make no mistake—LAVs don’t just haul Marines around for fun. They’re often the tip of the spear, hitting enemy lines before most people even know there’s a fight. From the streets of Fallujah to the hellish terrain of Afghanistan, LAR has played a crucial role in offensive operations, rapid strikes, and turning bad guys into bad memories. Whether it's rolling deep behind enemy lines, acting as a high-speed QRF, or providing fire support, the 0313s have been proving for years that you don’t need tracks to be lethal—you just need the will to send rounds downrange faster than the other guy. So, to all the 0313s out there, past and present, we salute you—even if you’re just glorified 0311s with a gas pedal. Today’s your day, LAV warriors. Keep those eight wheels rolling and your Bushmaster barking. Semper Fi! Stay Ready – Because No One Is Coming In a world that grows more unpredictable by the day, there’s one hard truth you can’t afford to ignore: when the moment of crisis comes, you are the only one you can count on. Your situational awareness, your level of fitness, and your ability to act decisively will mean the difference between survival and failure. If you’re waiting for someone else to step in, you’ve already lost. This isn’t paranoia—it’s a lesson written in blood. In Benghazi, 2012, four Americans, including two former Navy SEALs, called for help as they fought off a terrorist assault on the U.S. consulate. The government knew what was happening, and they did nothing. Bureaucrats sat safely behind desks while Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty held the line until their last breath. The response came too late, and when it did, it was to recover bodies, not to save lives. Benghazi is a poignant lesson. It's a reminder that when the call goes out, you may be the only one who answers. So stay vigilant. Stay prepared. Stay dangerous. Because when the world comes knocking, it’s you and you alone who will have to push through the fire. Remember Benghazi. Learn from it. Be ready.
