Mango Cluster: Progress & Future Plans During my visit to India in March 2025, particularly Chittoor District, dFarm India has been leading efforts to enhance fruit quality awareness and raise consumer expectations in collaboration with the District Horticulture Department. dFarm India has successfully supplied over 20 million pouches for table variety mangoes, facilitating approximately 8,000 tons of mangoes. Through Green Orbit Farms, we continue to register farmers and equip them with improved farming practices aimed at minimizing wastage. Additionally, we support them in obtaining Global GAP/APEDA certifications, enabling them to secure buyers before harvest and extend their harvesting window. The introduction of dFarm's tracking technology has significantly boosted demand for certified mangoes in both domestic and international markets. With scientific farming practices, we believe mangoes can be harvested over an eight-month period, from March to October. Establishing a Mango Board, supported by research funds, grants, and CSR initiatives, could further extend this harvesting window, ensuring better prices for farmers. Farm Management Companies (FMCs) have played a crucial role in supporting 45% of absentee farmers in the district. However, to further strengthen this ecosystem, we require at least 10 additional packhouses at strategic locations and over 40 FMCs across Chittoor District. At dFarm India, our commitment remains unwavering—enhancing the mango value chain, reducing post-harvest losses, and ensuring sustainable profitability for farmers. We are thrilled to share the inspiring success story of Green Orbit Farms (GOF), led by Mr. Srini Pavuluri—a visionary entrepreneur and US returnee who embarked on a journey to revolutionize the Hydroponic Farm and Mango Value Chain. Starting with a humble vision in 2022, GOF partnered with dFarm India to implement our Distributed ERP application, AIMS?, to digitize farms and empower farmers. While digital adoption faced challenges due to limited awareness, Srini creatively onboarded his network of friends and relatives across the USA, Gulf countries, and Indian cities to strengthen the initiative. ?? Overcoming Challenges: Srini encountered significant ground-level hurdles, including absentee farmers, labor shortages, inconsistent farm practices, and harvest inefficiencies leading to wastages. To address these, he introduced Farm Management Companies (FMCs) equipped with standardized labor and modern equipment on monthly payrolls. With the support of an agronomists as a field officers, farms are now monitored systematically. The officer updates farm status and assigns tasks to FMCs using the online AIMS? application, ensuring timely interventions and superior produce quality. ?? Driving Global Impact: By leveraging dFarm’s technologies, GOF achieved: ? Efficient farm monitoring and management ? High-quality mango produce with reduced wastage ? Seamless sales via the dFarm Marketplace ? Successful export of mangoes to Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Canada, and the USA Looking ahead, GOF is aiming for 500% growth in FY 2025, focusing on introducing residue-free mangoes with Track & Trace compliance.
