FPI selling crosses ?1 lakh crore as ‘Sell India, Buy China’ gains pace Our co-founder, Vaibhav Porwal shares his views with Kr Srivats from businessline on the factors behind the significant Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) selling of ~ INR 1,05,145 crore in just over 50 days. These outflows may be driven by FPIs shifting their focus to China as recent developments suggest that China has emerged as a key destination for investments. Since October 2024, India’s market capitalisation has declined by approximately USD 1 trillion, while China’s has surged by USD 2 trillion. A major factor behind this shift is the Chinese government’s economic stimulus package, announced in September 2024. This package includes policy support, regulatory easing, and measures to bolster investor sentiment. Looking ahead, the Indian FPI inflows will depend on an improvement in macroeconomic factors and a recovery of corporate earnings.
