The timeline of DevOps is filled with pivotal moments that include new terminology, tools, practices, conferences, books, and so much more—each branching into new possibilities that have shaped the path of software, technology, and, if we are honest, the world. With every major milestone, our DevOps journey split into new, unexpected directions that have all led us to exactly where we are today. I was honored to kick off this year’s DevOps Days Rockies by visiting the intersection of DevOps, quantum mechanics, and AI, through a fun thought experiment disguised as a brief DevOps history lesson. Although we couldn’t exhaustively explore every monumental branching of our timeline, it was fun to imagine how things could have played out differently at a few key points in our history. DevopsDays Rockies was truly fantastic this year, with a great mix of new and familiar faces, along with amazing talks and conversations. Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, vendors, and everyone who participated. We all play a role in shaping where our future DevOps timeline goes, and I believe the collective ambition and expertise in the DevOps community will continue to help us chart a path through future key moments.
