Members of our precast team had the privilege of serving as judges for the Mini-Prestressed Beam Competition at the 2025 ASCE Southeast Student Symposium, held at UGA from March 6-8. This unique competition challenged student teams to design and construct small “prestressed” beams using bass guitar strings as the tensioning steel. The beams were evaluated based on actual load carrying capacity in both shear and flexure, and the accuracy of the calculated design. We’re always excited to support the next generation of structural engineers. Great job to all the participants!
