If you're new to giving feedback, here are some ways to start small: ? Give simple acknowledgments whenever possible. For example, "You did a great job with the client question yesterday!" ? Provide feedback as close to the moment as you can. This way, things don't build up or feel like a bigger deal than they are. ? Include feedback on every 1:1 meeting agenda. This normalizes feedback and builds the habit for everyone. ? Frame feedback around growth. Always try to connect feedback to individual or company goals to drive home why it matters. ?? As a leader, feedback isn't just something you give, it's something you receive — and the way you respond sets the tone for everyone else. We encourage leaders to get curious about feedback using these tips: → Ask questions to understand. Drop your defenses and ask, "Could you tell me more about that experience?" → Reflect back what you heard. For example: "I'm hearing that you're not getting the information you need from the team meeting. Is that right?" → Make a plan and circle back. If you change something, be sure to check in with the person after and see if it's had the intended effect. ?? When you get curious instead of defensive, you create a culture where feedback is just part of the norm, a natural part of how the team works together and improves outcomes. ?? When it comes to structuring your feedback, we love the ACE tool. It's straightforward, easy to use, and effective at boosting morale and tying feedback into the bigger picture. You start by acknowledging someone's contributions. This might be all the feedback there is to give but even if there is some coaching to be done, starting with appreciation creates a supportive tone for the conversation. Next, you'll coach on anything you need to, providing any necessary clarifications and advice. Finally, you close out by evaluating the impact of the person's work, being sure to recognize growth and progress. ?? Here's what it all looks like in action: (A): I could tell you were really prepared for yesterday's client meeting; the slides were detailed, and you came across confident. (C): The presentation ran 30 minutes, and we need to keep it to about 20 minutes so there's time for client Q&A. I think we should schedule a run-through next time. What do you think? (E) I've seen your presentation skills grow significantly, and continuing to work on timing will make you even more effective. ?? With ACE, your feedback is balanced, specific, and motivating. Get more tips in our latest blog, and don't forget to sign up for our free webinar on March 26 to learn what to do AFTER you give feedback! https://buff.ly/tF951vM

?? This 2x2 feedback square looks simple, but it works so well for that exact reason. It's straightforward and easy to use, and it creates structure and opens up a two-way dialogue. Here's why we love this tool: ?? Both parties come to the meeting prepared with specific points they want to cover ?? Team members are given equal space in the conversation ?? Dedicated space is made for upward feedback, an important piece that is often overlooked ?? Support needs are always addressed ?? Growth is built in to the feedback cycle Without this template, it's easy for feedback sessions to detour into covering only what didn't work, or for them to feel like one-way directives from manager to team member. The 2x2 ensures both voices are heard and keeps everyone focused. The result? Feedback conversations that contribute to long-term growth, both individually and collectively. Do you have a tool that you use for feedback? Let us know in the comments; we'd love to check it out. Plus, head to our website read more about feedback and take our survey about how your company handles feedback. We'll share the results in our next blog!
