How proud we are of DCD Australia Ambassador Kai for meeting with local Queensland MP Hon Tim Mander this week to discuss the support offered by Educational Assistants in Australian schools. Thank you, Minister Mander for hearing about some of the gaps that exist in support for young people with Developmental Coordination Disorder in schools and the important role that EAs can play in supporting their learning. The educational impact of DCD varies from one child to another and can even vary from day to day, as skilled performance can be affected by things like fatigue too. #DCDAwarenessWeek2024

Many people impacted by DCD may also be diagnosed with, or display symptoms of, other neurodevelopmental disorders. We still don’t fully understand much of this overlap, but it’s always important as part of diagnosis that children are screened for commonly co-occurring conditions (and vice versa). #DCDAwarenessWeek2024

"Developmental" in DCD signifies that motor skill difficulties BEGAN in childhood.... it doesn't mean it is also when they end! #DCDAwarenessWeek2024
