The DMC joined local leaders at the kickoff for the upcoming 70th Annual NAACP Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner, a night dedicated to reflection, leadership, and the ongoing fight for justice, equity and progress. Hosted by Rev. Dr. Wendell Anthony and Kamilia K. Landrum, the event honored civil rights pioneers while reinforcing the NAACP’s role in addressing today’s challenges. A key moment was the passing of the gavel from Gary Torgow to our Group CEO, Brittany Lavis, marking a leadership transition as planning begins for the milestone event in June. She spoke on the importance of women’s and maternal health, addressing healthcare disparities, and recognized the DMC's commitment to advancing healthcare equity. With Mayor Mike Duggan and many distinguished leaders in attendance, the evening concluded with a call to action for continued partnership, emphasizing the shared responsibility to achieve educational, social, and economic equality for all.
