Detroit Golf Club has been a thriving member of the city since 1899. Our history is steeped in the tradition of the game and the fabric of the Motor City. Like the wonderful game itself, we are an exclusive club with an inclusive atmosphere.
Designed by Albert Kahn in 1916, our Clubhouse continues to welcome a wide cross-section of individuals and families. You’ll find all manner of professionals at Detroit Golf Club, including business leaders, government officials, engineers, lawyers and doctors. In addition to the wonderful and safe environment, there exists a broad range of activities for all ages.
To ensure our Members experience the best our treasured past-time has to offer, we feature two Donald Ross signature courses. This master of course design is a legend for being the architect behind some of North America’s premier sites. Fewer than 20 clubs across the continent can boast having two 18-hole Donald Ross courses, and Detroit Golf Club is proud to have that distinction.
As a private club, we offer many other amenities that our Members have access to. Our Clubhouse is home to three dining venues and is available for Members to book private functions. Our spacious swimming pool, outdoor tennis courts and fully equipped fitness center provide other options to engage your athletic side.

A new fire-suppression system at Detroit Golf Club will draw its power from a pair of 75-foot tanks, each with a capacity of 40,000 gallons. We’re excited to be working with Tyler Rae, Golf Architect later this year when we break ground on the major Donald Ross restoration and infrastructural project slated for Monday, June 30th, 2025, the day after the PGA TOUR’s Rocket Classic finishes up. You may see us with bulldozers following the last group on Sunday the 29th, reminiscent of Muirfield Village a few years back!

Since 1899, our history has been immersed in the tradition of the game and the fabric of Detroit. We are pleased to announce that we will proceed with our Golf Course Master Plan to ensure the enjoyment of the Club’s Donald Ross-designed legacy for future generations. Phase 1 will begin on our famed North Course immediately following the Rocket Mortgage Classic in June 2025. This $16.1 million dollar phase will also include irrigation and infrastructure upgrades to greens, bunkers, tees, fairways, and trees. Renovations of the South Course are to be restored shortly after the North Course. “As Detroit Golf Club is a special place with a celebrated history, we are extremely honored to be spearheading its golf course restoration which will incorporate many facets of Donald Ross’ original design,†said architect Tyler J. Rae, the highly acclaimed Philadelphia-based architect who is leading the restoration project.
