RESCUE UPDATE: Twenty-five children are now free from sexual exploitation! Twenty-five children in Uganda, along with five young women, no longer have to sell their bodies just to get enough money to eat. Most of the children joined our Residential Care program, which offers kids the opportunity to live together in our residential home, where they are lovingly cared for by Destiny Rescue caseworkers. The home lets kids not only recover from all they’ve suffered but also equip themselves with job training and life skills so they can live a life free when they graduate. #latestnews #newsupdate #rescueupdate #rescue #freedom #endchildtrafficking #endhumantrafficking #onechildistoomany

RESCUE UPDATE: 12 Girls Rescued from Sexual Exploitation Twelve girls are free from exploitation in South Asia. Life has changed in a big way for these children. Seven of the girls, who were aged between 13 and 17 years old, had been forced to sell their bodies just to survive. The other five were at dire risk of being sexually trafficked because a parent or guardian was involved in sex work. Since being rescued, all the children have enrolled in our residential care home. Safe from desperation and dangerous environments, they are recovering from all the trauma they suffered as our loving staff equips them with the vital life and career skills they’ll need to live free. #latestnews #newsupdate #rescueupdate #rescue #freedom #endchildtrafficking #endhumantrafficking #onechildistoomany

Period poverty: when a natural part of growing up puts kids at risk of exploitation. Can you imagine it? It starts like any other day for a 12-year-old girl. She gets dressed, goes to school, and prepares to sit through hours of lectures. But today, something is different. She’s felt a little weird the past few days. Things feel… off somehow, but she shakes it off and tries to concentrate on the teacher. Then it happens. She starts bleeding. She sees a growing red stain on her dress. She doesn’t know what’s happening, why this is happening. Terrified and embarrassed, she rushes to the teacher for help. The teacher tries to discreetly explain that this is a normal part of growing up and that she’ll be okay. The child glances over her shoulder and is mortified to see the other students staring at her. Some snicker from their desks, whispering to each other. She asks the teacher for help, but the teacher has none to give. Without a change of clothes or pads to manage her period, the girl reluctantly returns home to wait out the cycle. Then it happens again next month. And the next. This sad story is all too real for many girls growing up in struggling communities worldwide. It’s the first step in a terrible downward trend that begins with missing school and often ends in sexual exploitation. But our agents are doing something about it. Our team in Kenya has been visiting struggling schools in their area of operation, educating girls about their menstrual cycles and leaving cases of pads for teachers to distribute to struggling students. It’s an initiative that’s changing lives. “We have reduced stigmatization and shame in the community,” Destiny Rescue Caseworker Mercy explained. “Now the community knows that menstrual hygiene is not something to be ashamed of.” Michael has been a teacher at a school in an impoverished district for many years. He is thrilled that his students are getting what they need. “The team is doing quite a wonderful job helping the vulnerable children,” he said after they came to his school. “We have cases (of pads) here. We thank the team that came last week and provided the girls with more than enough pads. May God bless you.” Read the full story here—https://bit.ly/4igtc1L

Due to community stigma, it makes it difficult for survivors to press charges. In 2024, 98% of the survivors Destiny Rescue rescued at the border in Nepal did not press charges against their trafficker—leaving 1,243 traffickers to be left free in 2024. This is a stark reminder of how important it is to remain at the border to save their next victims. “I’m not helping her if she won’t help herself,” — someone who THINKS they understand trafficking. Many have wondered, aloud or in secret, if some exploited kids are simply living out their true selves. But that’s a lie created by the very people who sell children for sex. It’s a well-known fact that most victims of sex trafficking aren’t being imprisoned against their will. In some locations, teens are actively seeking “sugar daddies” (not abusers). What people don’t see is the complex, insidious methods traffickers use to convince victims that they’re only valuable as sex objects. The prison isn’t physical; it’s psychological. And it can manifest in many different ways. A flattering groomer praises a child’s body, convincing her that true power lies in her sexual prowess. A brutal trafficker stamps down any expression of individuality in a girl, convincing her that she’s worth nothing more than what her body can earn in a night. Psychological cages can be even harder to escape than physical ones, but our caseworkers see children prying those bars open every day. So don’t dismiss victims. Instead, let’s help others understand the unimaginable trauma, internal and external, that traffickers inflict to keep kids under control. Because once we understand the real prison, we can start helping kids escape. Read more about helping kids escape mental prisons here: https://bit.ly/3FoWzQK

What images come to mind when you think of freedom? Does WASHING DISHES make the list? For most of us, doing housework is just necessary drudgery. But 10-year-old Imena says that for her, it’s a joy. That’s because helping with chores is a sign that she’s finally a contributing part of something invaluable: a family. Despite her young age, Imena is a survivor of child sexual exploitation. Before her rescue, she was forced to find food any way she could, and evil men took advantage of that vulnerability. But now, all that’s changed. Imena is safe in a home with caring guardians. Before, surviving just one more day consumed her thoughts. Now, she has a safe place to dream, and she’s dreaming big. Imena has aspirations of becoming a doctor one day!
