    Vice - President, Collective Impact

This past weekend United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County held the very first Parent and Caregiver Leadership Summit. This event was tailored for any parent/caregiver who holds a leadership or advocacy role in their community and is interested in increasing their leadership skills. We lean on you to provide your expertise and value your feedback and time. The summit was interactive and intentional in providing the space to reflect . Special thanks to our amazing keynote speakers MisterStuTV, who is committed to advocating for children's mental health and well-being and Sinclair Ceasar III - Mental Health Speaker, who helps champion mental health in the workplace. Participants walked out feeling seen and with useful strategies beneficial to them and those they care and serve. The workshops provided by María Amparo Fernández and Kiah Scott equipped participants with tools to continue on their leadership journey . If you are interested in learning more on how we lift parent voice please reach out. #parentvoice #parentadvisorycommittee #uwsa #mentalhealth #livedunited

  • This year, many of our communities have already experienced significant challenges, so we remain committed to supporting new clients who are making a difference in their communities. Grow Local South Texas is growing a healthy local community by improving access to, educating about, and advocating for affordable, nutrient-dense foods. Through educational programs for local youth, farmers, and producers, they are helping to transform an entire ecosystem. We’re honored to be on this journey with you, Grow Local. ?? Thank you for your trust!

    • A post announcing our new client, Grow Local South Texas in white and yellow on a light brown background including Grow Local's logo and the words "Thank you for inviting us on your journey!"
  • ??? When times are tough, focusing on where you CAN make a difference is key. We’re deeply grateful to support efforts that build and support community action and wellbeing. Thank you, Laredo Health Promotores, for trusting us with your Board Governance Learning Day earlier this month as you continue supporting the powerful work you’ve led over the past year since launching your coalition. A fully bilingual, multi-cultural experience at the intersection of two nations! Your generosity, wisdom, and determination are truly reflective of the great people of Laredo and so critically needed at this time. ?Adelante!

  • ?? Super excited to travel to Laredo again in the new year, this time to connect with Laredo Health Promotores whose goal is to assist their community in achieving health equity through education, advocacy, and healthcare navigation. Thank you, LHP for letting us join you on your collaborative journey and Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas for your support to this powerful coalition as a member of MHM's Prosperemos Juntos | Thriving Together (PJTT) program! #communitycollaboration #coalitions #Laredo

  • Over the past two years, we’ve had the pleasure of working with Support Center For Nonprofit Management, a nonprofit capacity building organization serving nonprofits in the greater New York/New Jersey/Connecticut for more than 30 years! Thank you, Support Center, for your continued partnership and the chance to help nonprofits in your network leverage their strengths and use their growth area insights to deepen their impact! If you’re in Support Center’s service area, take a look at their wide array of support by visiting their website linked in the comments. If your organization is elsewhere in the U.S. and you’d like us to work with you on your own organizational assessment, Destino is here to help!

    • A testimonial about our firm from Support Center's Associate Executive Director, Carolyn Champ on a yellow background that reads, "Support Center has been partnering with María on delivering organizational assessments to nonprofit organizations in various stages of growth and transition. María brings expertise in analyzing and delivering often nuanced results in a way that lifts up each organization's unique strengths and helps them recognize how data can be used to advance their missions. She's a wonderful collaborative partner from who we've learned so much!"
  • If this resonates with you, thank you for continuing to follow. We look forward to continue in relationship with you. Sending strength and love. And, if you would like some words of peace, reflection, and encouragement, give Black Liturgies on instagram a follow.

    • Quote shared by Black Liturgies quoting Robert Jones Jr. that reads "We can disagree and still love each other, unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist."
  • Part of our work in being a responsive and responsible consulting firm is knowing what our strengths are and connecting clients to experts who can best support them. This season we've had so many great opportunities to connect with great consultants providing powerful and innovative supports, including Ines Mato, MPA from Matico Consulting ! If you're looking for a great consultant to support your data and research for process improvement work, evaluation, project management, and strategic planning, check out her website in the comments! Thank you, Ines for you time and valuable insights!

  • Part of our approach to bringing our clients the most comprehensive and high-quality service involves partnering with other great consultants. This has been a busy month of wonderful conversations with great peer consultants, including a recent coffee chat with Sally Blue of Sally Blue Consulting! Sally has expertise in many areas (coaching, facilitation, special classes and events, etc.), but we spent a good deal of time talking about a service area we both share: strategic planning. Helping clients understand what it truly takes to do it well is key. How the process is done will impact your results. If you want an inclusive and customized approach that will be effective and not just efficient (note: no, it won’t all happen in a 4-hour Board retreat!), feel free to reach out. We’re here to listen and help! Learn more about Sally and her work by visiting her website. Thank you for our coffee visit in San Antonio, Sally! Looking forward to future collaborations! https://www.sally.blue/

  • Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to reconnect with a dear former colleague from my work about 10 years ago supporting community-wide San Antonio-based collaboration efforts, Shelby Seier (photo circa 2014-15?). Since then, both of us have pursued a path of working on meaningful projects with great organizations through our own consulting firms. Her firm, All Kinds Accessibility Consulting offers a wide range of supports to create more inclusive experiences for disabled people. Knowing Shelby’s inclusive and thoughtful work firsthand (in addition to being a great artist!), I’m excited for you to learn more about her, her work, and how she can help your event, program, or organization create collective solutions that center disabled people and their networks. Feel free to check her website (link in the comments) and reach out for more info. So great reconnecting with you, Shelby!

  • Glad to have represented our firm at the Austin Social Sector Consultants "Unconference" last Friday! It was a wonderful opportunity to meet over 40 Central Texas social sector consultants, build relationships, and learn from one another.
