ACT ONE: SCENE SIX: "The curtain opens up to a husband & wife talking to a salesperson at a local boat dealership about making a purchase and what to expect with boat ownership!" HUSBAND: "So, if we buy this boat, and a trailer, aside from the boat payments, renting a boat slip, the storage fees, the maintenance fees, the insurance payments, and what-not, what kind of work is this going to take to keep the boat in good shape for my family?" SALESPERSON: "Not much at all really, sir! Here's a very user-friendly checklist you can keep with all the basics points to cover!" HUSBAND: "Honey, I don't have my glasses, could you read this out loud for me, please?" WIFE: "Sure (clears her throat), BOAT MAINTENANCE CHECKLIST: 1. Check the engine and operating temperature, 2. Check the propeller for any damage, 3. Test steering for any leaks, 4. Check transom mount, 5. Check fuel lines for weak points or leaks, 6. Change the oil, 7. Check spark plugs, 8. Check the fluid levels, 9. Check the gearcase for water, 10. Check the belts, cables and hoses, 11. Check the fittings for lubrication, 12. Check the battery charge level, the connections, the cables, and look for any acid leaks around the terminals, and clean, 13. Check the interior and exterior lighting and wiring, 14. Check the hull for any signs of leaks, cracks, stressed areas, or rust, 15. Check the stringers, 16. Check wiring for any corrosion, 17. Check voltage levels, 18. Update the firmware, 19. Check and water tank, 20. Check the drain for clogs, 21. Check for condensate in pan under evaporator, 22. Clean air filters and raw water strainer, 23. Reverse cycle the system to make sure heating is available, 24. Check the water pump impeller and condenser coil for any build-up, mold or mildew, 25. Remove and wash canvas, 26. Check for waterproofing, 27. Check fare(s), 28. Check fire extinguisher, 29. Inspect lifejackets for tears or missing parts, 30. Inspect and restock first aid kit, 31. Check flashlight and batteries, 32. Check refill spare gas can, and..." HUSBAND: "Ok, enough is enough already! Do I R-E-A-L-L-Y have to go through all of this just to own my own boat?!" DAD: "Ok, gang! If all things were equal like boats, locations, reservations, hours, amenities, and fees, what perks does Destination Boat Clubs have that none of the other boating clubs have?" DAUGHTER: "They have a beach house in the Outer Banks members can use for a whole week, and none of the other clubs have one?" MOM: "That's right! It's a 2-story, 5-bedroom, beach house with it's own private beach and a boat to use, and we can invite up to 10+ friends or family to join us!" DAD: "Ok, what else?" SON: "They have a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains members can use for nightly stays, and none of the other clubs have one?" MOM: "That's right! It's a 2-bedroom cabin right on the lake next to their marina on Lake James, that will sleep up to 6 people, and only 10 minutes away from the state park!" DAD: "Ok, what else?" SON: "They have free tickets to sporting events, and none of the other clubs have those!" MOM: "That's right! Free tickets to baseball games, football games, hockey games, and NASCAR races, but we gotta get them fast because they're first come, first serve!" DAD: "I almost forgot? They have a Christmas Party every year just for all the members, and none of the other clubs have one!" MOM: "That's right! Catered food, open bar, live music, door prizes, raffles, give-a-ways, awards, and even secret Santa for all the little ones! I heard it was so good it was almost worth joining their boat club just to get an invite!" DAD: "Well, that's enough for me! Even if all things were equal, and they're most certainly not, hands down Destination Boat Clubs is the place for us!" ACT ONE: SCENE FOUR: "The curtain opens up to two new members sitting face-to-face with the owner of Destination Boat Clubs Carolinas, at one of our (24+) marinas, reviewing their NEW membership agreement for a lifetime membership!" MEMBER ONE: "So, do you sit down with ALL the new members like this, or are we just special?" OWNER: "I have walked EVERY new member through joining my club myself personally from the first day the club opened our first location!" MEMBER TWO: "That's amazing! Why do you do that?" OWNER: "This really is my family here! We're just not like all the "other" boat clubs around with 80K+ members! You're not just a "number" to me, and I want to look you in the eyes, shake your hands myself, and tell you I will stand by every one of our promises personally!" MEMBER ONE: "Do we have to pay this joining fee every year?" OWNER: "No, sir! Our joining fees are a one-time only, not like the "other" clubs whereas you have to "upgrade" your package, or tier, or level for another fee at the end of your agreements! I just feel like that's charging my family twice for joining my club!" MEMBER TWO: "How often do you raise your monthly dues?" OWNER: "We have NEVER raised one of our family member's dues! Where you start, is where you stay, for good!" MEMBER ONE: "What "other" charges, or hidden costs, will there be above and beyond our dues that we can expect?" OWNER: "Absolutely NONE! The "other" clubs charge little nickel and dime "incidental fees" like a $20 reservation fee for example, but we do not! Even our watersports like paddleboards, kayaks, and jet skis are free to our family members!" MEMBER ONE & MEMBER TWO: "Thank you so much for getting to know us like this! We're so happy to be a part of the #destinationfamily!" WIFE: "Well, Saturday we have invited our neighbors and their kids to join us for the day, so we need something that can hold up to 10 passengers?" HUSBAND: "Here's a 24' 2024 Bentley Legacy 223 Tri-Toon with a swing back, let's choose that one for Saturday! What about Sunday?" WIFE: "It's just going to be us with the kids for the day, and your daughter wants to try her hand at wakeboarding! Do they have any boats for that?" DAD: "Here's a 23' 2024 Monterey Surfboat with a V8 motor on it, that should do the trick!" WIFE: "I still can't believe we ever thought about buying our own boat, when we have unlimited access to an entire fleet of boats like this!" HUSBAND: "That was a close call, wasn't it? I love our boat club membership! So glad we joined!" OWNER: "Let me get into the reservation system for you, standby..." MOM: [under her breath] "I still can't believe we can just call the actual owner of the club like this?" OWNER: "I have a boat for you available every day you're there!! Since you can have up to 2 reciprocal reservations every month, how many times do you guys want to boat while you're there, 1 or 2?"
