The Center for Agile and Adaptive Additive Manufacturing at the University of North Texas uses the Innovent to research binder jetting technology. A recent study aims to develop an integrated computational approach to understand the evolution of capillary force and subsequent capillary pressure when particle morphology gradually transitions from sphere to cube during liquid phase sintering of WC–10Co. Printing both spherical and non-spherical particle morphologies on the InnoventX, researchers verified and correlated the computational model-based predictions. Binder jetting does not change the basics of manufacturing - so rather than adapting production methodologies to additive manufacturing, FreeFORM Technologies adapts AM to production methodologies. Learn how in this article from Additive Manufacturing Media
What is something special you've done to keep a customer? Shortly after FreeFORM Technologies launched as a binder jetting startup, one of its early jobs reached production-level numbers (we know — some say that's an arbitrary number/definition). Wanting to meet this customer's needs and keep them on board, FreeFORM decided to integrate metal injection molding with binder jetting. The company now runs both processes. This accommodation highlights an aspect of FreeFORM's approach we learned about when visiting the company. That aspect is prioritizing workflow instead of thinking about how to 3D print the part. ?? The FreeFORM team has upfront communication with customers, asking questions like “Can we redesign this for cost savings? What are some processing steps you'll let us remove to get cost down?” At the end of the day it isn't about additive manufacturing — it's about manufacturing! Want to know more about this approach? Here's Peter Zelinski's easy-to-read deep dive: https://lnkd.in/ge8dSZ4B And a video about the binder jetting workflow: https://lnkd.in/gyb-FmRe
