As #WomenInConstructionWeek is coming to an end, we want to continue sharing insight from inspiring architect women in the construction field! Catherine Truman, Principal of CATHERINE TRUMAN ARCHITECTS, INC, talked about her approach: “I got started on my architectural journey through a love of existing buildings, particularly old houses (I grew up in one). I love transforming an existing building into something new – it can be a more traditional style, sometimes more contemporary, and sometimes a bit of both. Ultimately, though, all our projects are unique, very much a response to their place (and owners). A fundamental aspect of my approach is a deep respect for the materials in the spaces — how they’re going to age, how light reflects off of them, and how people interact with them.” #wicw?#womenarchitects?#designerbath?#designerinspo

As #WomenInConstructionWeek continues, we are spotlighting local female leaders in the vibrant design and build community! Elizabeth Cahill, partner at Albert, Righter & Tittmann Architects, Inc. shared what she loves about working in this industry: “In residential design, every project is a new adventure and a new learning experience. The most exciting part of designing houses for me is the opportunity to get to know our clients personally, and to fold their traits and interests into a design that is distinctly unique for them. To celebrate #WomenInConstructionWeek, we are highlighting incredible female leaders of our local design/build industry. Last year, we focused on builders and this year we are shining a spotlight on some amazing architects. Sandra Jahnes, AIA and co-founded of RUHL | JAHNES spoke to us about her favorite aspects of her job and the architecture and construction field: “As an Architect, I love nothing more than watching every decision and detail fall into place during construction – like notes in a symphony.
