1501 Fairmount Ave is a project that merges preservation with modern design. The historic Art Deco fa?ade is being carefully restored—cleaned, patched, and reinforced to maintain its original character. Inside, the building will feature 32 residential units above a ground-floor commercial space. The new six-story structure draws inspiration from its past life as an autobody shop, with corrugated metal siding as a nod to its industrial roots and brick elements that complement the surrounding residential streetscape. With nearly a decade in the field, Kathleen Garner continues to find that architecture offers endless opportunities to learn and grow. As a Project Coordinator, she navigates the many layers of the profession, collaborating with teams to bring projects to life. “Architecture is such a multifaceted profession where each project offers a varied experience to see what excites you, builds upon your strengths, and teaches you where the gaps in your knowledge reside. My favorite part of designing is getting down to project-specific details and nuances that tell each project’s unique story. Not only do I learn from the work I personally do on the project itself, I’m learning from every other professional I have the opportunity to collaborate with. Each character in the industry plays a part narrating the function, form, and sensory experience to create successful designs for the clients we serve. I know I’m in the right place when I reflect on my passion towards the built environment. It’s Women in Construction Week, and we’re celebrating by highlighting the talented women on our team who contribute to shaping the built environment every day. Lorabeth Iobst is a Project Designer on our architecture team and an integral part of what we do. She reflects on what led her to this industry: “I always had a creative mind growing up, working on some sort of craft, drawing, or painting in my free time. It wasn’t until late into high school that I realized I would be able to turn that joy into a career, when I took some drawing and drafting classes that blended creativity with technicality. I dove headfirst into college with a steadfast mindset—determined to mold what I loved into a career that I would enjoy for the rest of my life. Late nights and oversized cups of coffee kept me company, but I never looked back. Today, I can confidently say that I’ve transformed the creative joy I had as a child into a career that I love.” We are proud to celebrate Lorabeth and the contributions of women in construction, this week and every week. #WomenInConstuctionWeek #WICWeek2025

??? Spreading holiday cheer one bike at a time! ?? This year, the Designblendz team was thrilled to partner with the Jaws Youth Playbook and support the Jaws Holiday Bike Drive! Together, we donated 25 bikes to bring smiles to kids’ faces this holiday season. Our amazing team rolled up their sleeves to assemble the bikes and had the joy of personally distributing them to children in need. ?? The experience reminded us what this season is all about—giving back and making a difference. A huge thank you to Ron Jawoski's Foundation - Jaws Youth Playbook - for leading such an incredible initiative to empower and uplift our youth. Bringing New Life to an Existing Space!?We’re proud to share a renovation and tenant fit-out project aimed at revitalizing an existing 60,000 SF one-story building. The first 20,000 SF alteration Area?will enhance a significant portion of the building to include?Modern Office Suite?for Delaware Valley Paving. The design and renovation includes new Executive corner office, Conference room, New bathroom core, Kitchen & staff lounge, Open office workstations, Welcoming Lobby & Shared Spaces. A new entry lobby with vestibule and mail room. And an updated common corridor for other tenant access Additonal Ammentities include Shared lounge space (~1,500 SF) with soft seating, TV, bar top, and game area Event/meeting space (~2,800 SF) available for tenant use Our goal was to design an innovative functional space where work meets community and comfort to drives business goals. ?? Exciting News for Cookie Lovers! We're thrilled to share our latest project at the iconic Reading Terminal Market – the expansion of the Famous 4th St Cookies stand! Here's what we accomplished to enhance your favorite spot: ?? Expanded into the existing Mueller's Chocolate stand along Filbert St, adding +/- 300 SF (with a ship's ladder mezzanine staying intact!). ?? Renovated the stand's fa?ade to align with the signature Famous 4th St Cookies branding. ?? Added new openings for better visibility and a welcoming vibe. ?? Designed a marquee concept with columns to match the existing aesthetic. ?? Created a new door for seamless passage between the two stands. ?? Installed a state-of-the-art Revent oven and a double-door refrigerator for efficiency. ?? Added a new POS at the Filbert St window for quicker to-go sales. ?? Adjusted sinks and plumbing as needed to optimize the space. ?? Enhanced the existing stand with a new door and removed a sink to maximize space, plus an optional new Revent oven at the current location. This expansion is all about bringing you more delicious cookies with improved service and style. ?? We are thrilled to announce that our project at 122 N 3rd Street has won a Grand Jury Award from the Preservation Alliance! This historic 5-story warehouse, built in 1852, stands as a proud symbol of the commercial activity that shaped the neighborhood in the 19th century. Thanks to the vision of Zoubek Properties, this iconic building has been transformed into an 8-unit apartment complex with ground-floor retail space and modern amenities. Throughout the renovation, we meticulously preserved the building’s historic elements, including the stunning cast-iron facade, intricate egg-and-dart trim, and beautiful brownstone upper floors.
