It was an incredible evening celebrating the innovations and investments shaping Virginia’s transportation future. From runway rehabilitations and new terminal construction led by the Virginia Department of Aviation to the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation’s expansion of the Virginia Breeze and return to pre-pandemic transit ridership levels, the Commonwealth is making major strides in mobility. On the highway front, Virginia Department of Transportation is investing heavily in key corridors like I-64, I-81, and I-495—enhancing capacity, modernizing bridges, and expanding express lanes. There’s also exciting work ahead in bidirectional travel on I-95 and a potential I-495 extension into Maryland.
