DesignForce was proud to sponsor the ACEC Virginia Transportation Reception at the historic Jefferson in Richmond last night! It was an incredible evening celebrating the innovations and investments shaping Virginia’s transportation future. From runway rehabilitations and new terminal construction led by the Virginia Department of Aviation to the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation’s expansion of the Virginia Breeze and return to pre-pandemic transit ridership levels, the Commonwealth is making major strides in mobility. On the highway front, Virginia Department of Transportation is investing heavily in key corridors like I-64, I-81, and I-495—enhancing capacity, modernizing bridges, and expanding express lanes. There’s also exciting work ahead in bidirectional travel on I-95 and a potential I-495 extension into Maryland. We’re excited to see these projects unfold and to continue supporting the AEC professionals who are making them happen! #DesignForce #BuildingHire #ACEC #Transportation #Infrastructure #AEC

Black History Month is not just about looking back—it’s about celebrating the progress we’re making today and the impact it will have on future generations. Our very own Wahnetah Carty, a passionate advocate for DEI in the AEC industry, was recently featured by AEC Unites, where she shared her journey and insights on what this month means to her. As she so powerfully stated: "To me, Black History Month is not just a reflection, but a celebration—of the tiny wins that lead to big impacts. The work we do today isn’t just for us—it’s for future generations who haven’t even been born yet. If we continue advocating, fighting, and creating space for more Black professionals in AEC, our children and grandchildren will experience the progress we make today." We’re proud to have team members committed to shaping a more inclusive and equitable future. Read the full feature here: https://lnkd.in/eUNW66bW #BlackHistoryMonth #DEIinAEC #DesignForce

From the job site to the coaching seat—our very own Tasmia Hussain, PE a mechanical engineer turned career coach, is launching a new series sharing weekly insights from AEC professionals across the industry! ?? Check out her inaugural post to learn how speaking up for yourself can shape your career with key insights from Molly Sizemore. #DesignForce #BuildingHire #AECCareers #CareerGrowth #SelfAdvocacy #EngineersWeek
?? Great advice truly has the power to shape careers and spark growth ?? ? I am a licensed Mechanical Engineer and spent the first decade of my career practicing. While I was lucky to have great mentors along the way, I always felt like there was a deficit of good advice for professionals in the AEC industry. ? So welcome to the 'AEC Career Corner', a series where amazing professionals in the AEC industry share the most impactful advice they've ever received! Whether it's a game-changing leadership lesson, a fresh take on advocating for yourself, or a simple mindset change, I hope these insights can help inspire and empower AEC professionals of all levels. ? In honor of Engineer's Week 2025, I wanted to kick things off with some valuable advice I learned from Molly Sizemore, Mechanical Engineer at BR+A Consulting Engineers: ? "Take your seat at the table and have your voice heard. I'm a huge proponent of self-advocating, and though I have not become an expert, I have learned the important step to ask and participate. ? Even if an opportunity isn't the most exciting, I still try to be one of the first to volunteer. From being an active participant, I've found myself in rooms with people of higher positions having substantial accolades, and I draw inspiration from these individuals. ? It's sound advice to ask for what?you want and take an active role in conversation surrounding everything from career development to what someone did this past weekend. I have found being authentic and open about my life has brought about great connections early in my career." ? Do you have any advice that has been impactful in your career? Feel free to drop it in the comments - let's help each other grow in a meaningful way! ? #AEC #CareerAdvice #DesignForce #CareerGrowth
