Get ready for a BOO-tanical time at the Garden this month. ????
?? It's October 1, and you know what that means… spooky season has officially howled its way into Phoenix! While the rest of the country may be chasing ghosts, we’ve got our very own hauntingly adorable mascot: Slug the Pug - and he's here to take us from Summer glow to Fall flow. Slug isn’t your typical specter—no rattling chains or spooky wails here. He’s all about chasing the tumbleweeds, striking fear in the hearts of unattended snacks, and giving out slobbery trick or treats to anyone who dares to visit Phoenix this month. October in the Sonoran Desert is brewing up thrills, chills......and probably a few face licks. Ours to share and a place for all to keep. ??Desert Botanical Garden

??? Exciting news from Desert Botanical Garden! In August, our dedicated scientists embarked on an incredible two-week expedition to Peru, made possible by the generous support of longtime donors Bert and Betty Feingold. Under the expert planning of Raul Puente-Martinez, our Living Collections Curator and Research Botanist, the team—featuring Herbarium Curator Andrew Salywon, Cactus Plant Form Specialist Noemi Hernandez and former Garden researcher Lucas Majure—set out to collect valuable herbarium specimens. Their efforts not only enhance our Garden's collection but also contribute to vital research on desert plants and strengthen our collaboration with Peruvian botanists. ????
