Yesterday we gathered for our annual Thanksgiving luncheon hosted by Brethren Village. It was a unique opportunity to gather in their Fireside Lounge, a space designed by our team. No fancy presentations or formal agendas – just good food, genuine conversations, and a chance to pause and appreciate each other. Thank you to everyone who made this lunch special. It's a reminder that workplace culture isn't about grand gestures, but about creating space for authentic moments together. Wishing everyone a peaceful Thanksgiving with their loved ones.

At Bridgewater College, the new Rebecca Quad presents places to sit, see, and be seen. Building on this enhanced social activity and offering places to congregate, the new quad supports a sense of community and, with strong landscape and hardscape elements, connects housing, dining, and academic spaces while providing an appropriate terminus to the quad. #campusdesign #campusplanning

We just wrapped up our third annual pumpkin carving contest. The winning pumpkin this year is a Trilobite, resurrected from long extinction to win first prize. Our costumes this year included Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher series, Beetlejuice (don’t say that more than twice!), a giant gnome, and Jim the Milkman. Thank you to everyone who participated and thank you Dosie Dough for being impartial judges.?

In honor of National Community Planning Month, we're proud to highlight our revitalization plan for Collegeville Borough! Through extensive community outreach, two public meetings, and feedback from 433 survey respondents, we’re helping to shape the vision for their Main Street business district. This includes plans for expanding the commercial district, as well as creating new streetscapes, trails, and civic spaces. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed their ideas and passion—your input is essential to building a thriving, vibrant community. We look forward to sharing this plan at the next community meeting on Monday, October 21st!

Outdoor recreation in Pennsylvania has blossomed into an industry with $19.8 billion in direct sales. Hiking and biking trails are a major catalyst for borough economic development, enabling healthier and happier living, fostering connections, and creating an authentic sense of place. Visit Mark Evans AICP PP AIA, Derck & Edson Director of Urban Planning, at the PA State Association of Boroughs conference this weekend at the Lancaster Convention Center to learn more about trail town planning and economic development strategies for Boroughs across the state. We will also be sharing copies of our recently updated Community Review publication as well as a guide on how to get started with community revitalization in your Borough.

Another project completed at Endicott College! Venuti Hall is now open for the fall ’24 semester. This 4-story upperclassmen residence hall offers 178 beds featuring suites with two singles and two doubles, common area, kitchenette, private bathrooms, and in-suite laundry. Lounges and study rooms are located throughout on each level, and a large multiuse meeting room for classes and student activities. For snacks, beverages and convenience items, Gull & Go is open 24 hours a day utilizing Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology to enhance student’s shopping experience. This is one of several projects already built stemming from the campus master plan also led by Derck & Edson. We are excited to partner with Endicott College as they continue to transform their campus. We celebrated the opening of Anna Maria College’s newly renovated Nursing Simulation and Clinical Labs space with a ribbon cutting ceremony earlier this week. The adaptive reuse of Miriam Hall now features new classrooms and clinical simulation and training labs for nursing and paramedic students. A special thank you to Anna Maria College and Derck & Edson, LLC for their collaborative partnership throughout the project. Congressman James McGovern said about the importance of the new nursing wing, “We need a facility that represents the realities of 2024, not the realities of decades ago. This facility is a big deal not only for Anna Maria College, but our community.”?
