Better late than never… Had a great time with my favorite load management geeks last week at #PLMA50 in Brooklyn! Thanks to Jordan Folks for inviting me to speak about tech tools to enable the integration of retail pricing and DR/DER programs, and for the folks at CALMAC, a Portfolio of Trane and Trane for the tour of their ice storage facility in the Daily News building. A few takeaways: ? Winter (peaking) is coming. More and more utilities are preparing for how to manage load when people are trying to stay warm rather than cool! ? More devices, more options. Several sessions discussed how to design and manage multi-device programs. ? It’s not just about batteries and EVs (or thermostats). Water heaters and heat pumps are becoming a bigger part of the conversation. ? Getting it all to work together. Customer experience, communication, and interoperability were also important themes. #PLMA continues to be one of my favorite conferences of the year (even better that there are two every year!) A true conference (not a trade show) where you can have open, substantive conversations and exchange ideas on pushing the industry forward. See you all at #PLMA51 in Kansas City this spring!

His peers thought he was making a mistake—"No new U.S. auto company has succeeded in over 50 years," they said. Fast forward to Tesla’s IPO, and it became the *first* new U.S. automaker to go public in half a century. That’s the essence of being contrarian—and *right*. It’s not about following the crowd, it’s about having the conviction to act when others doubt you. This is the mindset we need to support the next wave of transformative companies.
