Since October 2023, Utah has added 32,900 new jobs to its labor force for a 1.9% increase. Unemployment held in October to 3.5%, well below the national average of 4.1%. During the past year Utah saw noteworthy growth in manufacturing and construction. Construction grew by 6.6%, adding 9,200 jobs, and manufacturing expanded by 1.8%, adding 2,800 positions. Construction has seen growth since the beginning of last year because of more residential and nonresidential projects. The growth in manufacturing is mainly due to aerospace manufacturing. Construction and manufacturing are both important sectors of a thriving economy. These sectors represent good-paying jobs that help build a strong middle class in the state. They also create demand for goods and services in related industries, which further boosts the overall economy. #UTEcon #UTBiz #UTPol https://lnkd.in/guWANjpw

Today, the Utah Homeless Services Board awarded three individuals the Outstanding Community Leader Award. Congratulations to Casandra Petty, Amy Anderson and Jeff Stant! Cassie Petty works with the Volunteers of America, Utah. Their leadership, meticulous approach and proactive engagement has made them invaluable to data-driven efforts statewide. Cassie's contributions are expected to continue shaping how we understand and support our most vulnerable populations in Utah. Amy Anderson has been the driving force for the Bear River Local Homeless Council. She has focused on identifying opportunities to increase accessible and affordable permanent housing for individuals experiencing homelessness. Her ability to rally support and foster a sense of community makes a significant impact on the lives of those in need. For years, Jeff Stant has been a consistent volunteer for the Catholic Community Services. In 2019, he faced a major health challenge that led to the amputation of his leg. Resilient, he continued to work and now dedicates time to supporting children with recent amputations at Primary Children's Hospital. Jeff's life journey has made him empathetic and supportive to those going through tough times. Thank you to these three amazing individuals!
