“Parents and carers are exhausted, they feel underappreciated and they are really struggling to juggle work and care at home,” said Georgina Ridley, Economic Policy Adviser at the Office for Women. “At the same time we heard that men don’t feel supported by their employers to take time out of the workforce for paid parental leave,” she continued. Unpaid and paid care is one of the priority areas of Working for Women: A Strategy for Gender Equality. What does liberalism mean to you? Think Building Innovative Government (Think BIG) is a PM&C initiative which aims to bring new voices, divergent thinkers and their expertise into the Australian Public Service. Our second Think BIG series for 2024 explored the ideas of truth, trust and cohesion. Alexandre Lefebvre, Professor of Politics and Philosophy at Sydney University joined us to discuss modern day liberalism, and how governments can both underpin and abide by its broad principles. We asked him how he defines liberalism. #ThinkBIG #Liberalism
