MSEN Student Spotlight: Selena Ganues '26 This past summer, Texas A&M Materials Science & Engineering senior Selena Ganues took her passion for research to Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico! As part of her materials science internship, she conducted electrochemical research to study the potential corrosion of steel used in nuclear fuel waste canisters. Now, as a virtual intern, she continues expanding corrosion databases while applying her classroom knowledge to real-world challenges. This experience has inspired her to pursue corrosion certification within the MSEN department and strengthened her hands-on lab skills. Selena’s advice? Explore ORISE opportunities! These programs offer internships nationwide across various disciplines.
