关于我们
Formerly the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD), we are now the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) thanks to 2021-2022 budget legislation. HCAI's portfolio of programs is growing, but it will continue with the programs it has been administering since it was created as OSHPD in 1978. HCAI will continue to provide the State with an enhanced understanding of the structure and function of its healthcare delivery systems. HCAI is a leader in collecting data and disseminating information about California's healthcare infrastructure. HCAI also monitors the construction, renovation, and seismic safety of hospitals and skilled nursing facilities, and provides loan insurance to assist the capital needs of California's nonprofit healthcare facilities. HCAI Program Areas: Affordability: analyze health care cost trends and drivers of spending, enforce health care cost targets, and conduct cost and market impact reviews of proposed health care consolidations. Data: collect, manage, analyze and report information about California’s healthcare infrastructure and patient outcomes. ??Check out this article: Back in 2022, HCAI provided a $25 million grant to the Gateway-In Project to fund the recruitment, training, and employment of new California certified nursing assistants (CNA) and home health aides (HHA). Researchers recently conducted a survey on the project’s first cohort of graduates and found that the overwhelming majority of respondents thought that the training prepared them well or very well for their CNA/HHA roles! HCAI looks forward to continue helping to grow the state's health workforce in support of all Californians. https://bit.ly/3YW8ETI

The highest education levels attained by CA’s registered nurses are unevenly distributed across the state. Registered nurses with doctoral degrees are twice as prevalent in the southern regions of California compared to the Northern and Sierra region. This observation was made possible through HCAI’s Health Workforce Research Data Center’s data visualization on California’s Registered Nurse Education Pathways, segmenting the data for degree distribution. Access the visual here?? https://bit.ly/47OuoDM By better understanding how education levels are distributed across the state, we are better able to leverage our financial assistance programs to enhance the state’s nursing workforce.
