A WKU Finance major with a concentration in Personal Financial Planning, Tanner Redmon utilizes his analytical skills and passion for financial literacy to serve the community. A Financial Coach in the WKU Center for Financial Success (CFS), Tanner works one-on-one with clients to develop budgets, navigate student loans and take steps toward financial independence. Additionally, he leads presentations on financial literacy topics with campus and community organizations. Tanner also witnesses the transformative impact of financial counseling on his clients' lives. "There have been testimonies of students that we have helped save thousands on student loans, pay for the next semester, navigate job offers and even pay for grad school in cash." “I’ve not only discovered who I am, but also built lifelong connections that have shaped me into someone I’m proud to be.” When graduating senior Kaylie Wise arrived at WKU in 2021, she wasn’t sure of her major, but she had a bucket list of college goals. Items checked off her bucket list included being a member of Delta Sigma Pi professional business fraternity, serving as a Gordon Ford College of Business Ambassador, traveling to Senegal, completing two summer internships and working in the Center for Financial Success. Capping off her WKU experience is something that wasn't on her bucket list. On December 6, Wise will be honored as the Fall 2024 Ogden Foundation Scholar during WKU’s College Recognition Ceremonies. "When I got the email saying I was selected, I’m pretty sure my jaw literally dropped. I was just doing what I love—helping others—and to be recognized for that is truly humbling.” A Finance major with a concentration in Personal Financial Planning, Wise aims to make a lasting impact on WKU and the community by empowering individuals with financial knowledge. She applied this desire through her work at the WKU Center for Financial Success. She made 120 presentations to organizations and classes on and off campus and had over 100 one-on-one sessions with students, faculty and community members. In total, she has reached more than 3,500 students. In a letter of recommendation for the Ogden Scholar Award, GFCB Dean Evelyn Thrasher noted that Wise has an unparalleled passion for learning, a heart for serving others and an ability to see everything as an opportunity rather than a challenge. “When she crosses the stage in December and turns her tassel, Kaylie will leave behind a legacy of academic excellence, servant leadership and kindness -- a legacy that should inspire us all to do more and be more." Members of WKU's campus community gathered this morning for a Veterans Day wreath-laying ceremony at the Guthrie Bell Tower honoring the heroes who answered the call to defend freedom. ???? “We pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving our nation in the United States Armed Forces. Those who have sacrificed so much and those who continue to sacrifice for all of us and for our country,” WKU President Timothy C. Caboni said. WKU’s Veterans Day observance continues with today's ROTC Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
