United States manufacturing and innovation are essential to American economic and national security. The Department of Defense (DoD) Manufacturing Technology enterprise utilizes advanced manufacturing to secure a more lethal force, strengthen alliances and new partnerships, and reform the Department for greater performance and affordability. The mission of the program is to reduce the acquisition and supportability costs of defense weapon systems and reduce manufacturing and repair cycle times across the life cycles of such systems. DoD ManTech is comprised of the Military Service and DoD Agency or Component ManTech investment programs operated out of the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Army, Navy, Air Force, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Though there is no central DoD ManTech Director, the OSD ManTech Office is responsible for administering the DoD ManTech Program by providing central guidance and direction to the Component ManTech Programs. Along with providing oversight to DoD ManTech, the OSD ManTech Office also manages two investment portfolios: the Manufacturing Science & Technology Program (OSD MSTP) and DoD Manufacturing Innovation Institutes (DoD MIIs). OSD MSTP aids in achieving reduced acquisition and total ownership costs by developing, maturing, and transitioning key manufacturing technologies. Investments are focused on those that have the most benefit to the Warfighter and include quick-hitting, rapid response projects to address immediate manufacturing needs. The DoD MIIs are public-private partnerships that help increase economic and national security by supporting research & development, building industrial ecosystems, and enabling education and workforce development. DoD MIIs are members of the Manufacturing USA network. Administered by the OSD ManTech Office, this page provides the latest descriptions, news, and events related to the DoD ManTech enterprise.

R&E Colleagues,? ? Happy Thanksgiving!?? ??? As we come together with family and friends this Thanksgiving, I wish to express my gratitude to each of you for your invaluable contributions to our nation's defense and your dedication to USD(R&E).? ? On this Thanksgiving, it is particularly significant to acknowledge our service members who are stationed away from loved ones, both at home and abroad, safeguarding our safety and upholding our values.? ? These values require protection, especially as we commemorate the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, while we continue to confront threats to the principles we cherish and share with our global partners and allies. I encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the past decade during which our nation has fought to preserve our freedoms. This serves as a poignant reminder of the critical nature of our mission to ensure that when our freedoms are threatened, we possess the most dependable, swift, and adaptable technological capabilities necessary for their defense.? ? Subject to mission requirements and with the approval of supervisors, I am granting a 59-minute early release on November 27, 2024. Contractors are advised to consult their program managers for specific instructions regarding reporting status.? ? Happy Thanksgiving,? Heidi? ?
