Recognize these? ?? They're organic okra seeds! Did you know that okra is also known as "lady's fingers" and is in the hibiscus family? Thank you so much to Eden Brothers for donating these seeds to our food access program, which increases access to resources such as seeds to Denverites so they can grow their own fresh food for themselves and their families. Eden Brothers is a non-GMO seed company based out of North Carolina that offers over 1,500 seed varieties, like okra. Learn more about Eden Brothers at https://lnkd.in/gGwDnQHK
关于我们
DUG knows that in order to make lasting change, community needs to drive it. That’s why every one of our urban gardens and farms have been started and led by local residents. We currently steward 34 acres and maintain 200 gardens & 20 food forests across six counties in the Metro Denver Area. DUG gardeners grow food, but more than that, they grow community. We put down deep roots, providing resources, training, and support needed to establish enduring gardens and farms that become valuable assets to neighborhoods. We do all of this with respect for all people and the environment.

We are so proud of our friends at Snooze an A.M. Eatery for WINNING the ColoradoBiz Top Companies Award in Hospitality ?? This is such an incredible honor, especially after decades of this award's existence (doesn't get any easier) and the immense competition between 44 other companies in Colorado. They truly set themselves apart, giving back to the community whenever they can. One example is the many breakfast benefits in honor of DUG that Snooze has hosted during openings and re-openings of their local restaurants. Their impact does not go unnoticed. Join us in congratulating them! Read the story at https://lnkd.in/gJ7rugva

Thank you to Jones Farms Organics, the first and only certified regenerative and organic farm in Colorado, who donated Wrens Abruzzi rye seed for DUG gardeners to use for cover crop this winter. At DUG, we champion organic growing, water conservation, and climate care for all of our growing. Jones Farms Organics' rye is a heritage grain and winter cover crop that uses minimal water, improves soil health, and has a complex flavor profile for a variety of uses! We also love that Jones Farms Organics is part of the Rye Resurgence Project, a group working to build a San Luis Valley rye market and provide a low-water cover crop option for San Luis Valley farmers seeking to reduce groundwater water use, prevent erosion, and improve soil health while making a profit. Keep doing the amazing work you're doing!

It's harvesting time... and that means our gardeners are busy picking tomatoes, spinach, and plenty of other veggies! ...but it also means our partnership with Fresh Food Connect is growing strong. One of our favorite benefits of partnering with Fresh Food Connect is their streamlined produce donation system which allows gardeners all over the Denver metro area (and beyond) to donate their extra produce to community members in need. They make donating produce easy by scheduling pickups and even loaning out a cooler for storing veggies to keep them fresh. If you're interested in donating your garden produce, or learning more about the amazing work Fresh Food Connect does, visit https://lnkd.in/gZjJzsr2
