关于我们
DUG knows that in order to make lasting change, community needs to drive it. That’s why every one of our urban gardens and farms have been started and led by local residents. We currently steward 34 acres and maintain 200 gardens & 20 food forests across six counties in the Metro Denver Area. DUG gardeners grow food, but more than that, they grow community. We put down deep roots, providing resources, training, and support needed to establish enduring gardens and farms that become valuable assets to neighborhoods. We do all of this with respect for all people and the environment.

Don't you think every garden space needs a music wall? ?? That's what we thought at Blue Spruce Community Garden, one of four trial sensory gardens as part of DUG's Therapeutic Garden Initiative. Supported by the Graland Country Day School's philanthropic Eagle Fund cohort, this community garden space has been an incredible way for students to express their creativity, connect in community with one another, and feel safe. Recently, 8th graders at Graland Country Day School helped build a music wall to support their peers in the garden. Learn more about our Therapeutic Garden Initiative at https://dug.org/tgi/

If you've ever visited a DUG garden or food forest, you know how unique they are. Every site has its personalization based on the needs & diversity of the neighborhood, as well as the gardeners or Tree Keepers who steward the spaces. You might notice rain barrels, art walls or murals, and sensory elements like music. Next time you stroll past one of DUG's community gardens or food forests, take a moment to look at all we're doing to make our spaces welcoming for the community and climate-friendly. We are thrilled to support Denargo Market on their incredible development including a play area, dog park, affordable housing, and more! Big kudos to our Director of Partnerships Nessa Mogharreban for leading this initiative to ensure a continued expansion of green spaces in Denver metro.
Exciting things are happening in Denver! We’re thrilled to announce the grand opening of Denargo Market’s newly upgraded dog park and multi-sport court. This is just the start of the 17-acre, mixed-use project transforming Denver’s urban landscape. To celebrate the milestone, the development team hosted a community event, complete with coffee, treats for pups and people, and a sneak peek at the upcoming community garden in collaboration with Denver Urban Gardens. “Our goal is to create a welcoming urban environment where residents and visitors can connect, recreate, and take advantage of the exceptional riverfront location,” said Laura Newman, Vice President of Investment & Development at Golub & Company. “These first amenities are a reflection of our commitment to going above and beyond to deliver a great public realm experience for Denver. We’re proud to see these first amenities coming to fruition and look forward to delivering the remaining public realm improvements in Q3 2025.” #DenargoMarket #UrbanDevelopment #GolubandCompany | FORMATIV CO

Recognize these? ?? They're organic okra seeds! Did you know that okra is also known as "lady's fingers" and is in the hibiscus family? Thank you so much to Eden Brothers for donating these seeds to our food access program, which increases access to resources such as seeds to Denverites so they can grow their own fresh food for themselves and their families. Eden Brothers is a non-GMO seed company based out of North Carolina that offers over 1,500 seed varieties, like okra. Learn more about Eden Brothers at https://lnkd.in/gGwDnQHK

We are so proud of our friends at Snooze an A.M. Eatery for WINNING the ColoradoBiz Top Companies Award in Hospitality ?? This is such an incredible honor, especially after decades of this award's existence (doesn't get any easier) and the immense competition between 44 other companies in Colorado. They truly set themselves apart, giving back to the community whenever they can. One example is the many breakfast benefits in honor of DUG that Snooze has hosted during openings and re-openings of their local restaurants. Their impact does not go unnoticed. Join us in congratulating them! Read the story at https://lnkd.in/gJ7rugva

Thank you to Jones Farms Organics, the first and only certified regenerative and organic farm in Colorado, who donated Wrens Abruzzi rye seed for DUG gardeners to use for cover crop this winter. At DUG, we champion organic growing, water conservation, and climate care for all of our growing. Jones Farms Organics' rye is a heritage grain and winter cover crop that uses minimal water, improves soil health, and has a complex flavor profile for a variety of uses! We also love that Jones Farms Organics is part of the Rye Resurgence Project, a group working to build a San Luis Valley rye market and provide a low-water cover crop option for San Luis Valley farmers seeking to reduce groundwater water use, prevent erosion, and improve soil health while making a profit. Keep doing the amazing work you're doing!
