What an incredible International Day at Denver Startup Week! Denver Sister Cities International was proud to be one of the sponsors for this fantastic event. Huge thanks to our dedicated Board Member, Martín González, and the entire team at Denver Economic Development & Opportunity for organizing such an inspiring day at University of Colorado Denver Business School. We were thrilled to connect with so many entrepreneurs and students, introducing them to the power of citizen diplomacy and Denver's ten sister cities. It was also wonderful to meet entrepreneurs from around the world as part of the Denver Global Landing Pad. It was an opportunity for participants to learn about all the resources available to them throughout Colorado. Our Executive Director, Sacha Francois Heppell, spoke about the significance of Denver Sister Cities, including the upcoming 65th anniversary of the Denver-Takayama, Japan sister city relationship, and highlighted opportunities to get involved as citizen diplomats. We also had the privilege of hearing from Mayor Mike Johnston, who spoke about the importance of global relationships and the role they play in Denver’s startup scene. Denver Sister Cities hosted a booth alongside World Trade Center Denver, WorldDenver, Denver Council on Foreign Relations, and the Colorado-Israel Chamber of Commerce (CO-IL). We had an amazing time at the Mid Autumn Festival Picnic at City of Kunming Park with the Denver Sister Cities Kunming Committee! The afternoon was filled with delicious food, tai chi lessons, and Chinese square dancing. A large part of the Kunming community attended, finding a sense of belonging through the sister city and the beautiful park, which features stones from the Stone Forest. We were also delighted to introduce the Denver Young Ambassadors, representing Denver in Kunming, China. Celebrating the end of the autumn harvest was truly special, with traditional mooncakes, a Tai Chi Qigong demonstration, and more. Thanks to the Denver-Kunming Committee for providing the main dish, utensils, and drinks, and to everyone who brought a favorite side dish to share. It was a joyful community celebration!
