Each year, the organization gives away Joint Coalition Assistance Fund awards to deserving non-profit organizations that serve older adults. Visit our website to learn more.

Yesterday's adventure in networking was like hitting the jackpot twice in one day! Started off at Collaboration In Aging event and, voila, got invited to two more ?? ? - First stop: Denver Senior Coalitions' monthly meet where board members Sara Shvartzman, MSW, Alyssa Trujillo, & Katie (Herrera) Hargrove made the atmosphere very welcoming. Kudos to Renee Nelson-Salway & the Brookdale Lowry team for their top-tier hospitality! ?? - The adventure didn't stop there! I found myself at the delightful Sip & Tour event courtesy of @Melissa Thomsen & the stellar team at MorningStar Senior Living Littleton. A perfect blend of networking and exploration that allowed us to meet their team & visit their beautiful community. ? The energy at both events was electric, filled with incredibly welcoming professionals from the healthcare and aged care realms. Can't wait for the next round of events! Here's to more serendipitous networking and making connections that count! ? #Key4US #CollaborationInAging #DenverSeniorCoallitions #BrookdaleSeniorLiving #BrookdaleLowry #MorningStar #MorningStarLittleton #NetworkingWins #HealthcareHeroes #AgedCareConnections #EventfulDay
May the lights of menorah candles fill your home with light from the darkness this Hanukkah. We want to take a moment and share a heartwarming story from Sara Shvartzman, VP of Marketing and Senior Care Consultant on our team. We hope this story fills you with as much joy as it did to our team! "There are many residential home assisted living options we tour that are former single family households. While some are built from the ground up and newer, most others were purchased by a small business owner. They convert the house to have multiple private and shared rooms. It is this style of assisted living that can provide a higher staff to resident ratio for a more supportive environment, and in and of itself, a home-like environment. A mezuzah is a small box with a prayer on a tiny parchment scroll inside which is put there to protect a Jewish person's home and its inhabitants. It's located at the right hand side of the doorpost, one quarter down from the top. As tradition dictates, it remains there even once the family has moved on. For the past many years with CarePatrol of Denver I've toured families at one assisted living in particular, Aspen View, and often wondered about the mezuzah at the front door. As a Jewish community member myself, I pondered about who used to live here, and what were their lives like? What were their memories? Did they have other family nearby? I once again toured another husband and wife there recently, looking for her husband. When I said we were headed to the next assisted living to take a look at, the wife recited the long winded address by memory. "How did you remember that so easily?" I asked. She replied, "It used to be my cousin's house." As we walked into the home, memories fluttered in her mind as she told the owner "Did you see the mezuzah on your front door? This is a Jewish house." Continuing through the space, it seemed like just the right fit. It could support her husband with his care needs, is only a 2 minute drive away for the wife, and home to him. While the owner didn't know the history of the home, the family did, and that brought them true comfort, in not only a tumultuous time in their lives, but in the world, for a Jewish family, to feel safe and supported, and at home." - Sara Shvartzman In pictures, the client and family, Sara Shvartzman, and Victoria from Aspen View Assisted Living. The gentleman is holding his favorite dish that Sara brought him, Gefilte Fish, (a traditional Jewish food) to welcome him home. We included a picture of what Sara's mezuzah looks like, for those who are interested.
