Earlier this month, Dentons Davis Brown joined the Children’s Rights Clinic at?Drake University Law School?to co-host a free LGBTQ+ clinic. Volunteers helped over 60 people with legal name changes, as well as name and sex-designation corrections on birth certificates. Notably, thanks to the stellar fundraising efforts of the Drake OUTlaws student group and others, the clinic covered the filing fees for everyone who needed it. Recent Executive Orders from the Trump administration take direct aim at Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. While these most directly impact federal agencies and contractors, they also pressure federal agencies to use their enforcement authority to achieve the same goals with private employers. A federal court has already issued a preliminary injunction against parts of these orders, but we’re seeing continued scrutiny of DEI programs. What does this mean for employers?
