A big congratulations to BDEC members at Dent Education and The Tech Lab at Digital Harbor Foundation for being awarded a $200,000 Digital Equity Fund grant from the City of Baltimore to advance STEM education for youth! ???? This funding will help more students gain access to cutting-edge technology, hands-on learning experiences, and the skills they need to succeed in the digital age. The Tech Lab in action again! Grateful for amazing partners like Dent Education and the incredible support from BaltimoreCityIT! Very excited to bring this work to life.

Dent Education, in partnership with Digital Harbor Foundation, is so grateful to have received a BaltimoreCityIT Digital Equity Fund grant! ?? These funds will be used to launch NextGen Innovators: A Digital Workforce Collaboration. We will adapt programs at Dent and the Tech Lab at DHF to better prepare Baltimore youth as the technology and innovation leaders of our future. In addition, we will prepare a toolkit & framework to be disseminated by Maryland Out of School Time Network and leveraged by other nonprofits! Specifically, this funding will be a crucial as we intentionally offer Industry-Recognized Credential (IRC)s in programs and align with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE)'s goal of 45% of youth graduating with an IRC and/or youth apprenticeship by 2030. This was truly a team effort between our partners at the Tech Lab at Digital Harbor, Siobhan Hayes and Cassie Sons, and our CEO Micky Wolf and Development Associate Anand Macherla. Partnership is essential to our model and we're learning so much about what it takes to co-create and fund initiatives as partners who are aligned towards the same end goals, but often don't have the capacity to do the deep work necessary to collaborate and align offerings. We're a few weeks in with our new Dent team members and we can already tell how much of an impact they're going to make! Ayomide S. is our dynamic, friendly, and thoughtful Strategic Partnerships Manager! She has already formed partnerships with a few new Made@Dent Clients and represented Dent at EcoMap Technologies, Inc.'s #SuperConnect2024 Conference. If you've met Ayo, you can tell her drive, sense of humor, community focus make her a natural Denter. We're also lucky to welcome two former Denters - Deja Pinkney and Tayanita Watson - to the full-time team as Innovators-in-Residence through the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation's Service Year Program! Tayanita is focused on guiding our Marketing and Curriculum to be more audience-focused and youth-centered while Deja is supporting Digital & Makerspace Operations to be more streamlined and organized.
