Dr. Kristin Haglund was part of a team that won a $250,000 community engagement grant from Medical College of Wisconsin's Advancing Healthier Wisconsin endowment. The grant supports Bembe Drum & Dance’s unique cultural arts programming, which connects participants to Afro-Latino history and culture through music and dance. By incorporating positive youth development and healing centered engagement principles, the project seeks to enhance social connectedness, improve mental health outcomes, and build community resilience. A major win for one of the College of Nursing's many community partners!

Marquette Nursing alumna Col. Jodelle Schroeder, nee Melander, Nur ’97, visited campus to speak with ROTC students and tour the new nursing facility! Col. Schroeder is the Deputy Corps Chief of the US Army Nurse Corps, the second-highest ranking nurse in the Army. Col. Schroeder has more than 26 years of experience as a nurse and has deployed all over the world. "What stood out to me the most about Marquette was the level of community," Col. Schroeder said. "Everybody puts their arms around each other; this is really your family for four-and-a-half years. The service ethos and the Jesuit mindset all fit well together for me in the career and calling I discovered as a nurse in the Army."
